3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, USA - JUL 29, 2007
330 ml bottle from Blue Max in Burnsville, MN (June 2007, consumed a bit below cellar temperature from a Maudite glass. Well dang that enormous smooth off-white creamy gout of foam just ain’t disappearing, how long am I going to have to wait? but subside is does, eventually, leaving thick sheets of lacing atop the clear bright golden body....aroma is quite yeasty, earthy, moderately hoppy with orangy-apricot notes; it seems closer at first whiff to a strong ESB than anything else, though the lightly farmy yeast qualities do impart a Belgian flair....on the tongue, moderately to strongly sweet at first, with dry earthy/chalky qualities appearing quickly and again an "Englishy" quality apparent, but quite soon the powerful hops take over and the body becomes very bitter, lightly fruity, a touch syrupy, and drier at the finish though some residual sugar remains....carbonation is moderate, body is quite full....the beer remains amazingly smooth and drinkable despite the powerful hoppiness; somehow the grassy/earthy qualities and strong resinous notes meld seamlessly into something altogether different and delightful....this is really a fascinating beast, perhaps a little weird for everyday drinking to my taste, but something I’d recommend to anybody adventurous certainly.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Bart (2500) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 6, 2012
Bottle, tasting with Wim and Yves. Hazy darker blond coloured with some floating yeast particals. Some very light carbonation and a short white head. Sweet full yeasty and slightly alcoholic bitter hinted aroma. Full sprankling palate. Finish is bitter hoppy, with some light alcoholic yeasty touches. Not bad.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hayduke (2526) - Eureka, California, USA - MAY 2, 2012
This was a draft pour at The Local Beer Bar in Eureka, CA, showing once again how draft beers can shine compared to battled beers. This one tasted so fresh and clean. It came in the glass as hazy amber color with a good sized attractive white head. that left good lacing when swirled in the glass. The nose is caramel malts and belgian yeast a light hint of funk. Medium in body and exceptionally smooth in mouthfeel. The flavor i complex enough with some stone fruit and some hop bitterness. There all sorts of subtle flavors there and all are enjoyable. The finish is the always interesting mix of hop bitterness on malt sweetness. This was a a really good beer and I have to really thank The Local Beer Bar for bringing this one to Eureka.
2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Rrauth (216) - - APR 25, 2012
Bottle from Sergio's. Not sure how old. This beer was a damn volcano. I kept it at 50 and let it sit out but it erupted. Crazy fluffy white head. Belgium yeast over any hop aroma. Bitter and belgium. For high IBUs it's masked by alcohol and yeast. Skip it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 zila (2) - BELGIUM - APR 14, 2012 does not count
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mansquito (1809) - washington, Washington DC, USA - MAR 22, 2012
Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria 12oz draught ($10): Pours an amber colour with a small head. Aroma is of Belgian yeast, an ample amount of hops, and a surprising amount of malt. Taste is on the sweet side. Also, there is a surprising amount of hops for a Belgian IPA, especially because those hops are more bitter than one would expect. Belgian aspects certainly shine through. Malt heavy for a BIPA. Not one of the best.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 dumontn (528) - CHICAGO, Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Pours the color of apple juice with thin head and big bubbles. Aroma is wheat, bubblegum, banana. Taste is apple, pear, banana, bubblegum, spicy yeast. Body is medium with barely any carbonation. Overall, this was not really hoppy or as carbonated as it needed to be. meh.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DeputyAndy (465) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Draft at Belgian Cafe with Pat. Pours a slight blonde color with some haze and a little head. Nose has a little spiciness to it. Flavor is chewy and dry, but in a combination that isn’t too flattering.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 suprchunk (1059) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - JAN 26, 2012
Clear amber colored pour. Big white head. Plenty of lacing after the head finally drops. A peppery, hoppy aroma. A slight aroma of infected homebrew. Tastes like infected homebrew. That’s about it. There is a slight slicky sweetness, but it is overwhelmed by the ick. Not very good, and indicative of most offerings from them. Only real positive is that this one didn’t gush out like an Alvinne volcano.
