4th March 2010. Pre ZBF. Hazy amber beer. Sulfur hop nose which carries through to the nose. Some nice hops in here but it’s all ruined by way too much sulfur.

Bottle 750ml. @ home.

Light unclear medium orange color with a large to huge, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to light light heavy hoppy, vomit, earthy hops, citrus - orange notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Aroma of the foam is yeasty and vomit ! [20100611]

Bottled. Amber colour, huge slightly off-white head. Aroma is earth, barnyard and some mould. Flavour is quite floral and fruity bitterness along with some mild herbal and spicy notes.

In short: A muddy doughty dry coniferous IPA. Just ok.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed very fresh a few days after I purchased it directly at the brewery
The look: Cloudy golden body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is yeasty, some leather and coniferous hops. Taste has lot of yeast related flavours. Ripe bananas, citrus fruits, pink grapefruits, bread dough. Some caramel. Bitterness is resinous and with a strong coniferous character. The intrinsic dryness of the Simcoe hops helps to dry out this otherwise muddy beer, making it feel a bit crisper than this muddy beer really is. American hopping really requires a crisper and cleaner body. This beer is the exact opposite to clean and crisp. I’m missing one entry in this trilogy (the Columbus) but to be honest completing this trilogy is very low on my priority list. If anything buying the Cyborg Cop III dvd has a higher priority.

Bottle from bierkompass.de. Orange color, light gusher. Grass, grapefruit and oily hops in the aroma. Pours a huge head. A massive oily hopbitter flavor with melon and grapefruit. Grassy earthy notes. Very hoppy, but not over the top. Long aftertaste.

Bottled. Clear golden color, big slight off-white head, quite a lot carbonation. Soft herbal aroma, some hop, hint of pine and citrus. Bitter taste, some malt, bit sweet and way too much carbonation, which bubbles away the taste. Alvinne can do much better.

skortila (4166) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - APR 26, 2010
75 cl. bottle. Aroma has citric hops mostly, some malts. Slightly hazy, orange coloured beer with a white head. The taste is bitter with much carbonation, hiding a quite bland taste. Little citrus there, but that’s about it. Not a great one, unfortunately.

Hazy orange colored brew. Hoppy aroma, Faint. Flavor is citrus, floral, simoco hop. Unbalanced and too much carbonation.

Bottle. Pours golden with an off white head. Nose and flavour of pine hops and citrus. Good drinkability but nothing too complex by the way of the hop profile. Cheers Ian for sharing.

harrisoni (10911) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2010
Bottle in a hotel room in Bruges. Very drinkable for a 7.1% IPA but hop just doesn’t have enough kick on the finish. Very drinkable, tasty finish. Nice, but maybe needs a bit more malt to underpin the hops.
