Bottle from bierkompass.de. Reddish brown color. Cherry juice and a hint of oak in the aroma. Sourish vinous flavor with vanilla, cherry juice, marzipan. Low on carbon. Very pleasant, tastes a bit like a very old sweetened kriek lambic.

Draught. Red coloured. Unclear. Dense reddish head. Berries, sweetness, light citrus and some wood/barral. Flaovur as well full of berries and dry fruits. Citric and sourish with a light marzipany touch. Medium bodied. Grapy and sourish end. Dont think the bourgogne barral does a lot for the beer.

Gelungen! 9/11/11/11/11/11

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2010 On draught at Churchkey. Dark purple, large tan head. Aroma of fresh dark cherries and wood. Taste has citrus, sour grapefruit and cherry. Amazing complexity and character. Top notch! 4.3 750 ml bottle at DC local tasting. No head or lacing on this version. Same wonderful aroma. Less fruit, more acidic. 3.6

2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazed ruby red body with a tan head. Aromas are big and vinous with fruit, berries, tartness, wine, caramel, leather and strawberries. Flavors are much less tart, but very vinous with caramel, berries and wine. Lively bubbles.

Deep garnet red with a small pink head, gone in seconds. Intense fruitnose (cherry,...) with some old wood ànd alcohol. Superb nose, inviting as none, reminiscent of the real Zottegemse Kriek from Crombé. Sourish-fruity, refreshing with "old cherries", wood, pinch of saffron and redcurrant. Again totally resembling the old Zottegemse Kriek - with just a slightly more watery mouthfeel. Lipsmacking acidity, superbly refreshing. EXCELLENT. Glenn, Davy, Mark, take note (<small> pretty please! </small>). Do a remake of this with a good dose of extra malts in the Kerasus, then barrel-age in the same way. As Struise recreated the original Kapittel Prior with Aardmonnik, so will you have resurrected the Zottegemse Kriek, of fond memory.

A Mes rate: bottle at home, MASSIVE thanks to Glenn and Davy for sending me a bottle home with Sim when I missed the festival.
Woo HOOOOOO this is a good one. God knows what you Danish folks are thinking but for me this is very enjoyable indeed. Sim agrees, and so does our Magic Tom. Aroma is through the roof. Simply amazing cherries and cinnamon goodness with a good amount of wood and bourgogne showing through. Just adorable. The flavour is pretty much the same but there is just a hint of metal that holds it back but just a touch. Palate gets a five because the drinkability is absolutely effortless. Finish is more sublime cherries that has glorious length and eventually settles on some great barrel notes. Just bloody great stuff all round.

Draft at 2011 Max’s Belgian Fest at 2008 Oak Kerasus: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a semi-sweet toasty caramel and light fruity tart nose with some vinous oak. Starts with average fullness and light carbonation with some oily texture and light caramel and fruity tartness. Finishes drier and oaky with some lingering vinous flavor.

Bottle at CPK thanks to Thomas. Pours a slightly cloudy, bloody-ruby with no head. Aroma is all cherries and wood, slightly dank and funky. Light to medium sweet flavor, mild cherries and fruit, moderate sourness, some wood, a little stinging funkiness. Light to medium in body with soft carbonation. Finish is lightly dry with a wonderful, restrained sour character, nice wood, aged cherries. Very solid beer.

Had this at Pre ZBF 5th March 2010 Pours wonderful red colour with good clarity. This is quite a lovely beer in terms of aroma (sweeter than expected) though sour cherries are leaping up the nostrils. In the mouth this is sour, woody and with clear wine enhanced characteristics, dry at the end, little puckering in the mouth, good tangy stuff. A8 A3 F7 P4 Ov15 3.7
