3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (7179) - London, ENGLAND - JUN 15, 2011
Bottle at CPK thanks to Thomas. Pours a slightly cloudy, bloody-ruby with no head. Aroma is all cherries and wood, slightly dank and funky. Light to medium sweet flavor, mild cherries and fruit, moderate sourness, some wood, a little stinging funkiness. Light to medium in body with soft carbonation. Finish is lightly dry with a wonderful, restrained sour character, nice wood, aged cherries. Very solid beer.

Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Hazy cherry color with a thin bubbly head. Unfiltered cherry flavor. Very sour, but nicely so. Rich cherry pulp. Slight flemish funk but mostly a clean sour. Had from the same barrel twice and has gotten more complex and sour with age.

(2009 Vintage) / limited to 250 bottles – 75 cl. bottle split with Belgbeergeek – thx to him: (A) Bourgogne dark red, no head, pretty wine-looking – (S) reminds me of Kerasus 2010, lots of nice tart cherries with a slight sweet side to them, slightly woody – (T) slightly watery tart cherries, vineous leading into the slightly bitter wooden, tannins, Bourgogne part – (B) definitely thinned out by the BA, basically just takes Kerasus 2010 a notch down, slight sweetness & tart cherry finish of the base beer is replaced by ok Bourgogne, tannins, wood,… soft carb. ok beer, definitely too much thinned out

On tap at CP&K at Alvinne meet the brewer night. The nose is sour cherry, sweet strawberry, metal and nettles. The taste is tart cherry, granny smith apple, lemon sherbet, egg and farmyard. It’s really smooth, slightly astringent and has a long dry finish. Another top quality sour ale from Alvinne.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MrChopin (2527) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 6, 2011
translucent dark red, thin cream white head. Nose is sweet, heavy cherry with light Cinnamon and faint squash. Flavor similar but less spice, more cherry dominance, bit sticky and lightly seedy in lengthy finish. Too thin, needs more carb. Nice, spiced nose, flavor could use a bit more variation, bit of oak in finish.

Courtesy of fonefan Beautiful red-dark amber color; medium sized compact head. Aroma of cherry stones, then soap, light vinegar, caramel and cream; very interesting. The body is very thin, the mouthfeel dry and acidic; there is some light, dry caramel flavor, with light cherry flavor, some vinous character, fruits (grapes and plums). The final is a bit astringent and sour, dry, with light tones of roasted nuts.

On tap @ Pre ZBF. The aroma has cherries, wood. Hazy, red coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is slightly sour, has cherries, woody tones, perhaps some vanilla. Good balance there. Nice brew.
