2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
750 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 2009 vintage. Slight gush. 24MA11.
App.: Cloudy deep pinkish-brown with a small pinkish head.
Aroma: A lot of minerals, frank tartness, a bit of sour cherry, light barnyard, horse blanket, leather, funk, bitter herbals, some faint brown sugar hints, pretty stern stuff.
Palate: Medium-ish body, soft effervescence, a little astringency, puckering sourness.
Flav.: Bracing sourness, some tart cherries, a little wood, only a touch of the Lambic/Saison character, hints of friendlier black cherries, a wee hint of brown sugar; really tart with a mineral and watery tart cherry finish.
Just about turned my face inside out. Too tart for this boy.
