Travlr (9999) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Dark maroon color, slightly thin, with a two bubble head that disappears quickly. Aroma is of chocolate covered cherries and roasted malts, some vanilla in the background. Flavor has more cherries than beer, with a slightly sour finish. Body is a bit on the thin side, but decent. Nice brew, but needs better balance. The 2009 batch was made with cherry mash - the batch brewed for release in 2010 was made with whole cherries, and should be a considerable improvement.

Bottle. Pours a slightly brownish, red liquid with a pink head. Aroma is a bit acidic and quite sweet with loads of cherry lollipop and cherries. Maybe a bit synthetic, definitely very fruity. Taste is actually rather dry, with lots of cherries and a hint of salad stalks towards the end. The acidity is quite held back, and the beer unfortunately dies rather fast. Still an ok brew.

330ml Bottle - Hazy red in colour. Fruity and slightly musty aroma, with cherry and strawberry jam. Almonds and tart, tangy cherries feature in the taste. Tart and enjoyable.

Bottle. Purple red color, cloudy. Cherry and marzipan in the aroma. In the flavor the brett is almost dominating the cherry juice. In the aftertaste the cherry and marzipan notes are clearly noticeable. A most enjoyable beer!

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2010 [9/8/09] Bottle at Delirium Cafe in Brussels. Deep red color with a medium, quickly-diminishing, beige head. Aroma of yeast, cherries, apple notes, some other fruits, wood, some spiciness and caramel notes. Sourish fruity flavor with some cherries, a bit of yeast, some oak , malt sweetness, and mild spicy hoppiness towards the finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle. Sour cherry and horse blanket aroma. Cloudy ruby red color with minimal head. Light dry sour cherry flavor. Light body. Nice flavor for what’s there - could use a stronger flavor and fuller palate.

(Bottled, BBE 2013) Hazy ruby red with a small, mostly fading, pink head. Pleasant, mildly tart aroma of cherry and strawberries and some sweet sugar. Sweetish and slightly acidic cherry flavor with mild, dry tartness in the finish. Light to medium body, slightly watery with medium carbonation. Not very sour at this point, maybe a more aged sample would be in order. Nevertheless, a decent - although quite thin - fruit beer.
