75cl bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to Paul. It pours a deep dark brown colour with a huge beige head. Big gusher. Aroma is intense red berries, cherries, wood and oak. Chocolate as well. Taste is sweet acidic with a quite bitter finish. Cocoa and nuts with some dark fruits. Mouthfeel is full with good carbonation. Overall, very very good.

Bottle @ RBESG. Aroma is faint wood and bourbon, some roasted malt and faint red fruits. Flavour is roasty vanilla with oak, chocolate and liquorice. Nice.

Flaske hos Ole Anders juni-13: flott skum og vinø s aroma og smak. Et deilig øl med stor smak, men ikke et av livets vippepunkter.

Bottle @ RBESG’13 Grand Tasting @ De Molen: Served in a Molen taster: Thanks for sharing 77ships: Some brown beige creamy small head/thicker lacing on top of a deep dark brown to black colored beer. Aromas of brett, bourbon, cream, roast, light vanilla. Soft and smooth. Flavours of roast, tar, bitter, coal, some hay roast, some spices, some cream, coffee, bitter and a hint of dark fruit. Aftertaste is bitter, coal, malt/wood burn and liquor. Low carbo, soft creamy slight silky mouthfeel, full body and a creamy thicker light oily texture. Very smooth, unfortunately no real bourbon notes, except for the aroma. But it’s an enjoyable beer.

Bottle, bought @ Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte. Pours completely black with a small, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has plenty oak, roasted, lots of vanilla, quite astringent. Highish carbonation, dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has sweet chocolate, lots of vanilla, cocoa powder dryness, coffee, mild astringent. Vinious and quite warming. The astringency is still there, but remains balanced by alcohol and oak. Lingering, quite heavy malty dryness. Yum.

500 ml bottle at home. Pours black with a tiny tiny tiny head. Incredibly mellow Maker’s Mark (or Wild Turkey?) nose: vanilla, sweet chocolate, sweet cherries, and the nicest ever coffee aroma. Light body with medium sweetness and weird sour notes. The initial malt base seems a bit too light for the cask strength which renders the taste rather akward. Once a bit warmed up, the beer reveals a subtle yet unique balance...

Bottle at ratebeer tasting at CBC. Pours with a dark brown body and a light tan head on top which stays for the duratuion. Some sticky lacing. Nose is very odd for a bourbon barrel imp stout. Lots of funk to it with heavy chocolate and citrus tones. Some gin notes to it as pointed out, which I really enjoy. Bourbon comes through more in the taste than the nose. Some funk and lemon with a touch of vanilla. Quite a dry palate. very easy going for the 10% abv. Some light bitterness and a touch of heat on the finish. Works nicely. Really enjoyed this one

77ships (3313) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 1, 2013
75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBESG 2013. Pours black with a creamy mocha head. Nose carries brett, some sour milk, old oak, sweet mocha & sugar,… Clearly different from the regular Mano Negra but the barrel is quite a bit more subdued than expected. Taste is sour, brett, light bourbon, more mellow than expected (or at least clearly more mellow than most Bourbon BA beers), vanilla, light roast, touch of booze, some almost-non bourbon whisky bitter booze in the back, hint sour milk & heavy roast in the back. Creamy, lower carb. milky body. Interesting stuff.

750ml Bottle (Monks Porter House, Stockholm) - Black with a small tan head. Coffee, liquorice, chocolate and bourbon in the aroma. Roasted malt, plain chocolate, liquorice and vinous fruits in the taste. Rich, yet easy to drink and enjoyable.

Bottle at the Martin T tasting, CBC, 06/06/13 thanks to Ken. Murky-opaque dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to a film. Nose is woody, dark fruits, funk, touch brett, subtle bourbon notes, plummy, trace of chocolate. Taste comprises chocolate notes, malt, caramel, light funk, touch of boose, subtle bourbon infused wood, faint yeast esters. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, touch of booze in the finish. Alcohol is well disguised in the impy, decent!
