2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
6th Feb 2015: shared bottle in De Bierboom (Brugge). Not really my thing, but this didn’t cause me any undue problems. Chili in beer? No thank you. Beer in a chili? No thank you. Dark brown body, almost black, the head a mid-brown affair. Dark malts give the nose a coffee feel, with a chili overtone that carries on into the taste. Semi-sweet molasses fight with the chili flavours to produce a beer that was OK, not sure what the Bourbon Barrel aging did: mellowed the chili maybe?

Alvinne. Bottle. Almost a gusher but not quite. Extremely dark brown color, massive brown head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, pepper flesh, vanilla. Taste is dark black coffee, dark bitter cocoa, subtle heat and just a touch of sweet booze towards the finish. Not bad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma of roasted malts, oak, dark chocolate, coffee, chili pepers. Flavour is roasty and medium sweet with a nice chili bite in the finish, as well as some booziness. I’m still looking for a Chili beer that knocks my socks off, but this was a good one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The night I slept at the Alvinne brewery. Madness. Cheers Glen, cheers MesandSim. Poured a dark brown, medium tan head. Aroma is mild chilli, bourbon, woody notes, toffee sweetness. Flavour is smooth and woody, chilli really grows in the finish. Obviously very me, I loved this stuff. Fantastic beer. And I was very very drunk.
