Bottle, 75cl, courtesy of fonefan. An almost black beer with a nice, dense tan head. Sweet, coffee-aroma with some chocolate and a hint of licorice. Sugary flavor with coffee and chocolate. Some notes of raisins and a little bitterness too. Full-bodied and a bit too carbonated, sticky and warming. Lasting finish with roasted malts and a coffee-like bitterness. A nice beer indeed, but after an initial joy, there’s a feeling of nothing more than interesting and one in the crowd. 090822

Very dark brown with a small pale brown head. Some lacings. The smell is of roasted malts, notes of chocolate and dark fruits. The taste is better than the smell. It’s fairly sweet and dominated by roasted malts. Notes of dark fruits and coffee. A hint of chocolate and a very mild spicy note. Medium body, slightly sticky texture despite the very bubbly carbonation. A decent beer, but I was actually somewhat disappointed in this considering the reputation behind this brewery and the fact that I usually like Belgian imperial stouts very much. Bottle at BBF. Black with slight tan head. Another nice stout with a malty and fruity nose. Sweet, fruit flavoured with some smoke too. Some chocolate notes. Bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle @ 1ste Borefts. A black colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of sweet smoked malts with fruits. The taste is sweet with smoke. There are fruits like berries. The sweetness moves over to a nice bitterness. Hints of alcohol in the back. The aftertatste is bitter with alcohol.

Had this at the Borefts Beer Festival, De Molen Brewery, Bodegraven, Netherlands 30-10-09 Pours almost black with a tan head. There is a touch of loose filminess for a head. Slight burn from the alcohol, little numbness, soft and velvety in the mouth there is a nice bitterness and roastiness but its not too much, tasty. A6 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Bottle @ 1st BBF, De Molen.
Pours very dark brown with a small, beige head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, light roasted malt and a hint of metal. Medium carbonation, nice creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has blackberries, yeast, roasted malts, ashes, grainy and lightly vinious. Lots of dark chocolate. Quite nice and elegant. Long aftertaste, lightly roasted and a touch of soft hops.

Tasted at 1st Borefts Beer Festival, Bodegraven (can’t recall whether it was on draft or from bottle). Black appearance. Roasted notes, some chocolate. Neither complexity nor balance, but this might be because it was served between all those other brilliant beers at this festival.

Draught at 1st Borefts Beer Festival at De Molen. Black coloured with a huge beige head. Roasted aroma of berries, dark chocolate and yeast. Roasted flavour of dark chocolate and yeast. Roasted and yeasty finish. Too much yeast.
