On tap at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours moderately hazy caramel-gold with a fine, white cream head. Sugary malt aroma with punches of honey and toffee. Big sweet flavor with honey, toffee, apples, light alcohol, fruitcake. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with mild warmth, sticky sugars, mellow dry wood, ripe apple, rich bread. Quite well rounded and not too cloying.

33cl, new exclusive brew Anno 2009, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex brew, yet heavy, balanced, cloudy, small head, top class!, yet very expensive

A: The pour is a slightly hazy golden straw color with a bit of yeast sediment finding its way into the glass. S: Quite a bit of bright fruit notes in the nose. I pick up some apples, pears, lemons, and maybe even some white grapes. The bourbon/vanilla is subtle, as is the oak. T: The fruit character is just as prevalent on the palate. The bourbon comes through a bit more and provides a bit of warmth and some vanilla flavor. Lots of white grapes and apples really stand out and keep this one "light" for such a strong beer. M: The body is surprisingly light (in a good way) for such a potent beer. Good carbonation, which I was not expecting either. D: This was dangerously easy to drink. I think I was the only person that was a real big fan of this one at the tasting, but I thought it was quite interesting, especially compared to American bourbon barrel beers.

Hazy copper amber colour, small white head. Medium carbonation. Very tasty and heavy beer. Aroma of fruit, malts, honey, sugar candy, oak and a shot of whisky. Well balanced, not easy drinkable. Warm alcoholic finish. Sweet with dry bitter finish. Balanced beer.

Borefts 12. Hazy orange to copper colour, no head. Smells lots of wood, whiskey, sweet, some peat. Tastes sweet, bourbon, wood. Quite nice! Medium to full body, low fizzy carbo.

Keg @ Borefts 2012. The pour’s light hazy golden orange wwith a small head. The nose is of apple cider, some sweet bourbon and a splash of wood barrel. Forest fruit sweetness. The taste is soft apricot, more berry, borbon and caramel. Vanilla flavors. Boozy but not oppressively so. A restrained barrel treatment. Pretty tasty stuff.

Trockener heller Antrunk, in dem eine süßliche Alkoholnote und eine dazu passende Malznote aufeinandertreffen. Dazu wenig hopfig. Im Mittelteil durch den spürbar stärkeren Alkohol intensiver und würziger, süß. Auch im weiteren Verlauf ist der Alkohol stark. Dies passt in weiten Teilen, wird zum Ende aber überstrapaziert. Etwas brotig, die Süße ist etwas klebrig. Darüber hinaus deutlich würzig nach Kräutern, etwas Honig. Ein intensives und stark kräuterbetontes Bier. 9/12/8/12/13/13

Light unclear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, fruity, apples and tropical fruit, dried fruit - berry, alcohol, moderate bourbon. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20091030]

Bottle @ Borefts Beer Festival 2009. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of sweet malts, bourbon, alcohol. Flavour has sweet malts, bourbon and a slight sourness. Alcohol noticable. Very good stuff.
