Bottle, 75cl, courtesy of ChristianScheffel. An almost clear, golden beer with a white head. Alcohol, sweetness and honey on the nose, not particularly interesting. Sweet flavor with some honey, hops in the background. Warming, full-bodied and well-carbonated. Sweet, honey finish with some alcohol and bitterness. The beer doesn’t present itself as very balanced, probably not the best beer to barrel. 090822

Tasted at 1st Borefts Beer Festival, Bodegraven. Amber coloured. Fruity notes, a bit sour. Better than the bourbon barrel version. And that’s about all my notes say.

Had this at the Borefts Beer Festival, De Molen Brewery, Bodegraven, Netherlands 30-10-09 Pours orange/amber with a white head. The alcohol is quite heavy and this is a little sweet. Bit fruity with the wine cask influence a touch muted, I might have got a little woodiness I’m not entirely sure. A6 A3 F7 P4 Ov13 3.3

Bottle @ 1st BBF, De Molen.
Pours lightly muddy orange-yellow with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Nice lacings. Aroma has grapes, apple, quite a vinious note and lots of sweet, sticky malts. Medium carbonation, nice fat mouthfeel. Flavour is lightly fruity, oak, dry, light vinious, sweet malts, grapes and apples. Finishes with fine green apple zestiness.

75cl bottle. Thanks Christian Scheffel. Pours cloudy orange with a frothy white head. Sweet malty and oaky nose. A bit of yeast. Overall sweet fruity and oaky flavor. Medium and smooth palate. Tasty but not overly complex as hoped for.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of ChristianScheffel. Hazy amber golden with tiny floating impurities and an off-white head. Sweet yet unclean fruity aroma. Full-bodied, a little low in carbonation, honey, fruit and flower notes. Distinct alcohol in the finish. Not sure that Melchior is all that suited for barrel aging. 220809
