4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Travlr (5366) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 23, 2009
Bottle poured by Glenn at the brewery - thanks Glenn!
Bright orange color with a slight rim of bubbles and moderate lacing.
Aroma of light bourbon, caramel and butterscotch.
Flavor begins on the sour side, then progresses to orange peel and coriander. Bourbon taste is subtle, mostly near the finish.
Nicely complex, and decent body, better than the non-oak version.
Very nice indeed. We had the last bourbon bottle, sorry!!

Aroma bit complex, sweet, malts, fruits.
Medium to full body. Taste sweet, dried fruits, alcoholic. GOOD.

Bottle from De Bierloods, Adegem. Pours quite clear, shiny orangey amber and has a healthy white head. Fantastic aroma: berries, marzipane, oranges, alcohol, port. Sweeter flavours, dried fruit, very noticeable alchol, orange zest. A bit sirupy texture. All in all, a great late night treat.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bierkoning (8099) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - APR 5, 2009
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2010 Bottled. Amber color. Vinous aroma, like oak aged burgundy wine, hiding the malt. Malty sweetish flavor with hazelnuts, strong notes of red wine, toffee, oak, alcohol and raisin. The burgundy wine barrels dominate this beer, but also add complexity. A very good marriage!
750 ml bottle, enjoyed 21.07.10: 11,5%. Light amber color, cloudy. Oak and citrus in the vinous aroma. Oak in the slightly tart flavor. Lemon. Vinous notes. Malt. Alcoholic with soft Rodenbach-like notes. Good and complex.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUL 25, 2011
11/12/12/12/11/12

A Mes rate. Draught at Pre ZBF. Darkish murky amber with a slight white film top. Not the best looking beer from Alvinne. Should this matter? I care, I can’t help it, it’s all part of the experience. Aroma, jesus... this smells fantastic to me. Big wine notes, obviously but there is some desert wine and vintage port in there too. Whiffs of resinous wood and sharp but elegant alcohol too. A glorious smelling beer. The flavour can’t quite keep up but it’s still pretty bloody good. If you concentrate I can pick out all that I like about the aroma but they just seem to mash together in the mouth coming up with a result that is slightly lesser than the sum of its parts. Excellent dried fruit, rich caramel and more wine barrel in the finish. A rewarding experience and I’m glad I have some of this tucked away for another sample.

75cl, new exclusive brew Anno 2009, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex brew, yet heavy, balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, but very expensive

Tasted at 1st Borefts Beer Festival, Bodegraven. Amber coloured. Fruity notes, a bit sour. Better than the bourbon barrel version. And that’s about all my notes say.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 29, 2011
(Bottled, 0.75l, 11.5% ABV) Murky orange-brown with a very small head. The Bourgogne barrel is evident in the nose, with grainy-caramely maltiness, dried fruit, and some typical aged Belgian character. Somewhat similar to Stille Nacht. Flavor is even more bourgogney, with grainy-caramely maltiness strongly present, and even some surprisingly fresh, exotic-citrusy fruitiness. Alcohol well hidden. Medium to full body, low CO2, refreshing. A reasonably successful barrel ageing, resulting in a complex and freshly fruity flavor.

Tasted at the first, great, Borefts Beer Festival 2009 @ De Molen. Amber colored brew. Very nice aroma of bourgogne wine. Flavor has got the vinous tones too, some sweetness, fruits and a bit oaky. Nice.
