Bottled at pre-Zythos bash, Alvinne, March 2009. Very murky pale orange colour. Sort of rubbery appley aroma. Almost cider-like. Lots of quite sweet vanilla oak and spirity notes that were rather dominant and didn’t seem perfectly integrated into the beer. Some residual sweetness. Didn’t really do it for me - possibly a bit green. Maybe one of the few beers that I think I might have appreciated more with some bottle age.

Bottled. Aroma has mustard, oak and calvados apples. Hazy, golden coloured beer with a lasting, white head. The taste is vinous, has apples, some spice and yeast. Better than expected.

Bottled. Cloudy golden color, big head. Aroma of the spicy mustardy melchior, combined with oak aged notes and hint of green apples, some liquor, hint of yeast. Nicely balanced taste, fruity, slight yeast, the spicy mustard flowing through.

Bottle. [thank you, harrisoni]
My first beer after a short-ish beer hiatus of nineteen days.
Pours a lovely, clear orange golden with a great, staying, creamy head. Mostly white, but with a slight yellow hue to it someplaces. I poured a bit more than I probably should, so a few large lumps of yeast plumped into the glass. Probably won’t make a difference. Head stays for quite a long time, descending slowly in a ring, leaving lacings on the glass and a cone in the middle. Lovely aroma. Lots of overripe apple, some oak, toffee, caramel malts and yeast. There is oranges, pineapple and other exotic fruit notes as well. Highish prickly carbonation, but still maintains a good oily feel. Flavour is quite vinious, but never really alcohol-heavy. Lots of apples again, mixed with lovely fat toffee and those yeast exotic fruit notes. Warming finish with very little bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle at home.. HUGE thanks to Ian for this one ... foamed on opening so quite hazy amber ... bubbly white head... sweet yeasty light spice nose ... rich spirit ... little toffee ... big resiny apple ... yeast ... pine ... this is a big body boozy bomb ... but the balance is quite nice ... real richness ... nice to drink like a nip.

Bottle with our Mes, cheers our kid. Murky orange with a few floaty bits, thin white head. Great smell, can really pick out the oak aging, apple, tarty ciderness. Flavoutr similar with a lovely sweet and sour finish. Very good.

A Mes rate. Bottle from Alvinne but drunk with our Weasel over at his.
A murky orange blonde colour with a thin white head. Lovely aroma. Calvados a plenty with some good barrelly notes, slight spice and cinnamon plus an awesome sugary hit too. Excellent! The flavour follows on in an equally rich form. Big boozy hits work unusually well. Glorious sweet and sour finish. Bloody lovely.

Bottled@Fonefan. Golden colour, mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is very sweet fruity, some alcohol as well as some yeasty notes. Flavour is fruity, a bit alcoholic and wooden notes. A really pleasant thing. Wellbalanced. Once it warms up the wooden and a bit stinging alcoholic notes gets strong. Still the alcohol suits the beer very well. Excellent!

This well-rounded little piece of art far exceeded my expectations. 33cL bottle pours a deep burnt orange with reddish-pink highlights, and a fading white head that leaves some laces. Smells like a zesty orange liqueur, like mandarine peel steeped in schnapps, with subdued traces of wood, earth and honey. Very pleasant, actually. Flavor is a rounded medley of woody tartness, light sweetness and mellow bitterness. That sweetness hangs on to the creamy orange aroma and goes a touch nutty, like toasted walnut. Harmonious and complex yet easily tasty. Alcohol hides until it gets to your belly, which is agreeably dangerous. Gets better as it warms in the snifter.

Perfect looking beer! Deep deep clear light amber body, lots of very fine sparkle and a huge fluffy golden white head leaving thick lacing; A nose that definitely doesnt live up to the looks, lightly metallic with actually quite plain malt aromas, the fine calvados aromas shows them self in a very elegant mixed smooth and sharp way behind all the malts; The body is big and really showing itself but it is slightly confused, lots of malt fill, but this is mixed with quite a bit of sharp fruitiness, dont know if it is from the calva but it doesnt go well; Long finish that also has this slightly metallic touch, very balanced amount of pleasant aromas, again there is lots and lots of fruits almost acid like and I find it to much, the late aromas are really good and a pleasant mix of calvados and malts. Very interesting beer, but a little to far from perfect.
