COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with mustard seeds and aged for 6 months in Calvados barrels that contained cognac for 10 years and calvados for 8 years. The barrels were found at a local farm in France.

Hazy cider colored with very little head. Aroma is like a cider fermented with brett. Sweet and spicy with that pleasant pineapple and barn. Taste is the same, with more bretty bitterness and tannic woodiness well after the finish. Some warming alcohol.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light brown with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel and sweet, overripe fruit. Flavor is similar with added notes of spice and wood. Finish is metallic with a strange spicy bitterness (mustard seeds?). Different but not great.

Bottled sample consumed at Avenue Pub. Gold in colour with moderate yet spritzy carbonation. Aromas are of sour citrus, oak, liquor (maybe white vermouth), and mustard. Flavours are of more sour fruit, wood, white grapes, vanilla, and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Round mouthfeel and a bit boozy. Not bad.

Draught. Mustard seeds? Really? Good or bad I didn’t seem to notice them at all. For me the aroma and flavor was reminiscent of sour cherries. I also did not notice the 11+ ABV too. Okay.

Stark “belgisk” doft, lite syrlig med tydlig apelsinton. Smaken innehåller mycket kola, är lite halv-fruktig men känns mest avslagen. Vätskan är tunn och jag blev inte jätteförtjust

Bottle. Cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, orange, alcohol and with some notes of oak. The taste was about the same with a woody finish. Not that impressive to be honest, a little to unbalanced and with a surprisingly light body.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2013 Würziger und ausgewogenenr Antrunk, Apfel, süffig. Das Bier wird intensiver, schon früh vollmundig. Kaum malzig, dafür holzig, perfekt passende Süße. Rund, fruchtiger werdend, Vanille, Mango, wieder Apfel. GANZ anders als die „frische“ Version! 7/12/11/13/12/13 Alter Test: Alkoholischer Antrunk mit durchgehender Trockenheit und angenehmer Süße. Man gewöhnt sich mit der Zeit an den Alkohol, durch eine teilweise deutliche Wässrigkeit erscheint er zudem im Mittelteil nicht übermäßig stark. Leider ist das Bier nicht sonderlich aromatisch und lässt sich auf eine durchaus kräuterartige Alkoholigkeit und eine süße Komponente reduzieren. Wenig helles Malz, im Abgang alkoholich brennend. 6/7/7/7/11/7

Clear, dark amber/honey, bordering on light mahogany color. What started as a big white head quickly collapsed to a thin layer of bubbles. Little bit of lacing left behind. Smells sour, earthy. Like a gueuze. I’m guessing there is some brett in there. Little apple-y sweetness in there. Very much an alcohol presence. After that fades there is a very sweet brandy flavor, mixed with a peppery, cinnamony spiciness. An almost dry mouthfeel that quickly gives way to a sweet mouthfeel. Earthy. None of the sour aroma comes through in the taste, but it might be another gusher given some time.

Gushing bottle. Cloudy blond color. Light aroma of malt and wallnuts. Sweetish malt flavor, with light Calvados and nutty touch. The alcohol can be clearly perceived. Good but a bit boozy.

Bottle... Poured hazy golden with a white head. Barf-like, solvent, chemical with some hard liquor and even a scotch-like tone. Some funk and a hot finish.
