Bottle. Poured clear yellow color with a large white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex herbal and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Medium spicy sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where met.

slightly spicy, slightly phenolic, slightly malty and caramelly aroma. alc. is too strong for the rest of the beer.
flavor is bitter from alc. some malts, some spicy notes. again, alc. sort of dominates.

Tap. Pours hazy copper with an average, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, hay, toasted), light hops (floral), and average esters (fruity) with notes of alcohol, dates, and honey. Flavor is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted), average hops (floral), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of wood, alcohol, dates, and honey. Full body, high warmth, medium carbonation, and low creaminess with a dry and biting finish.

Bottle at the Triple Rock Sour & BA Fest. Pours cloudy blonde with a nice beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a sweet malt flavor with some banana and a mustard-like finish. The alcohol is well-hidden.

pours hazy golden with a decent head. grainy and malty, with a nice yeast spicyness profile, hint of mustard seed - still is hardly perceptible. interesting style. good overall BSA structure.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2011 Bottle, Melchior Old Ale, Vintage 2005. This is a great beer... Pours rich orange color with absolutely no head or lacing. Sugar cane, light apricot and candy in the nose. Sweet fruits, smooth on the front side of the tongue, yet mild bitterness on the backside. Such a smooth sip - almost no carbonation, but delivers a moderate, yet balanced alcohol feel in the aftertaste. Very nice.

Bottle. Rich red, with minimal head, lacing or carbonation. The sip is nice - mellow, slight hops, moderate alcohol, somehow fruity. Enjoyable!
