33 cl bottle, pours dark with a nice creamy head, aroma of chocolate, licorice, malt and coffee, taste follows the nose, very light drinkable at 10,2% but slightly watery on the palate, nice overall brew.

Very dark beer that looks, smells and tastes great. A very roasty flavour without being overly bitter. Recommended!

Bottle - 330ml. Pours a cola brown body with a huge, lasting beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with vineous and plummy hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste carries grainy, woody, and plummy notes. It ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Good stuff.

Squat little 33cl bottle courtesy of sebletitje that uncapped and proceeded to ooze with mocha foam and got me running to the sink. It ends up with a dark body and mocha head. The aroma is a bit dusty and then becomes more musty prunes and boysenberries and then a touch of DRM. The taste starts with a mix of blueberries, boysenberries and sweetened black currents. It then picks up a thin layer of dark roasted maltiness. Around the edges of these notes I get a bit of dusty yeastiness. This comes together for me as I drink more of it.

Dark brown, slightly red. Aroma of roasted malts, anis, ripe fruit and licorise. Flavour of ripe fruits, licorice, roasted malts and some spices. Underrated beer.

Murky dark brown body and medium tan head. Very ruch aroma of dried figs, chocolate raisins, some cookie spices and great leathery yeast backbone. Fairly highly carbonated, which matches this beer well. Good amount of bitter to balance the dried fruity sweetness. Ends with a warming body and luckily not as sharp as 10.2% might indicate. Taste develops further in the mouth and just hangs there. A classic Belgian, done very well by a not so classic brewer. Nice! (33cl bottle, bit expensive)

Keg at Gainbar. Chocolate brown colour with massive golden bubbly head. Aroma is chocolate, yeasty, creamy maltiness, touch of hoppy bitterness and berry fruitiness. Taste is delicious. Creamy and soft, chocolate and vanilla, very roasty too, subtle hoppiness, caramel. Very smooth and the alcohol is well disguised. Great beer.

courtesy of Doeschi - dark black beer under a solid dark beige foam; nice lace; roasted aroma of licorice and ashes; light notes of coffee; a solid carbonation and a solid malt backbone; pretty tart and with a respectable bitterness and an acidic touch; dry bitter and very roasted coffeish aftertaste with lingering notes of licorice

In short: A messy dirty dark ale of some kind
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed when probably one year after bottling (rough estimate here)
The look: GUSHER ALERT!!! GUSHER ALERT!!! Cloudy murky brown body, lots of particles, medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is yeasty, roasted wood, dirty carpet, stuff… This beer doesn’t smell very clean. Taste feels like a melting pot of whatever the brewer could get his hands on. Dirty fruits, tobacco, dirty tree bark, yeast, aggressive spiciness, roast, toasted dry nuts, strong citric notes, cacao powder, probably other stuff... Aggressive soda-pop style carbonation. Finish is dirty-harsh and mouth-drying astringent. Alcohol remains mostly well hidden. As much of a mess as this beer is (and IT IS a mess) I was able to drink my bottle without thinking about a drain pour. Although losing 1/3 in the gushing probably helped. This beer is more of a intriguing puzzling mess than an actual bad beer. But I still don’t recommend it. There’s a new rumor going around that Alvinne is not a consistent brewery. I just started that rumor with this rating. Psss, pass it along.
