Bottle from BVS, near Brussels. Gusher! It pours very dark with a small fizzy beige head. The nose is sweet berry, wood, mild sourness, cola, faint spice, cherry and plum. The taste is moderately sour, wood, earth, vinous, cherry, lemon, grapefruit, Granny Smith apple and lightly acidic with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and fizzy, lively carbonation. Pretty mellow actually. Rather drinkable stuff.

Draught at Bad Apple on 4/17/14
Dark brown-tan body is mostly clear with a small light beige head that shows low retention.
Brett and plentiful acetic acid in the nose is backed by a touch of vanilla and caramel from the malts but itís mostly just the wild yeast and bacteria doing the talking here. Fair amount of complexity, adding balsam, cherries, and even a fair amount of citric character. No alcohol or flaws in the nose.
Wow. Umm this is just like sour yeast/bacteria notes in water. Absolutely no body, no sweetness, nothing. Some strange house character as well, not really dirty, but heavily mineral-like and with some heavy, heavy acidity/astringency. Carbonation is extremely low as well. This is closer to wine and even trying to appreciate it as such, I still canít get past the lack of complexity. The low carbonation does nothing for it, concentrating the sourness and not really allowing the other characteristics of the beer to be able to be explored. The complete lack of malt/overattenuation isnt doing it any favors either.

Tap@Birch. Pours hazy purple with very little head and no lacing. Aroma is tart cherry, fruity, caramel. Flavor is medium tart and very lightly funky. Some initial sweetness dries out. Not overly complex, unfortunately. Medium body, minimal carbonation.

Murky reddish brown pour. Nice tan head that recedes fairly quickly. Smell is vinous with balsamic vinegar and raisin notes. Flavor is tart and vinous once again, lots of sour, caramel flavors, raisin, some bread. Nice one.

Murky reddish brown with no head. Very acetic on the nose and taste. Damn near flat. Ok but kinda one dimensional. Pretty tart tho. Wish there was more complexity.

A little easier on the palate than the Alvinne I had in Ebenezer Kezars last night. This oneís not as sour. Sour plum and raisin with some crab apple and cider flavours. Reddish cloudy pour with decent head and lacing. Medium sour finish. On tap at Lionís Pride.

Tap at E9. Cloudy brown pour with a minimal head and leaving no lace. Nose is sour fruit with some butterscotch and citrus. Medium body, moderate, fine carbonation. Lemon, tart cherries, wood and a bit of low-level Brett funk that ties it together nicely. A great sour ale, I have a new benchmark!
