Bottle: Deep amber to black coloured with ruby sparks and a small and stable off-head, moderate sourish ( balsamico), toasty and molassy nose; moderate sourish-sweet flavour, quite soft, light to medium bodied; lingering sourish finish with many traces of balsamico and toasted malt. Very good…

200ml Sample at Bierkultur Festival in Köln-Ehrenfeld. Appearance is opaque, dark brown color with small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma is mild with yeast, caramel, fruit, and dark malts. Taste is mildy sour balanced with a strong fruity sweetness, caramel, yeast, and a slight citrus bite. The story of this beer is the superb balance. The wild sourness is mild and well matched with the sweetness. Palate is full-bodied, very smooth texture, light carbonation, and a tart finish.

33cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Slight gusher, pretty good considering what we’re used to from Alvinne (see Alvinne Gaspar). Opaque dark brown, small to medium sized beige head. Aroma only has some sourness. Taste light to medium sour, very balanced and pretty nice. To me it’s a surprise, I quite like it! Medium body and soft but suitable carbo.

Gedronken bij dutchdrebus, meegebracht door Benzai. Is donkerbruin van kleur en ruikt heel zuur en naar appel. Smaakt niet zo zuur, fruitig, appel.

Bottle thx to benzai. Opague brown colour with small light brown head. Smells sour, brettanomyces, oak, red fruits. Tastes some ’kroepoek’, sweet and sour, fruity, deep. Full taste for its abv. Medium body, okay carbo.

Kristall-König (1624) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - APR 6, 2012
Recht starker, säuerlicher und malzröstiger Geruch. Startet sauer.

In bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a thick light tan head. A lovely sour aroma of lemon, sour-dough, toffee and oak. A very nice Brett character coming through in the flavour also. Musty wet cardboard, chocolate, lemon and dark malt notes. Heavy carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Delicious!

It’s dark brown with beige head. It’s not complex but the flavour is surprising and good. Sour aroma of berries and chocolate, Acid-full flavour of berries and roasted malt.
