(On bottle at RBESG 2005)Started out real bad and finished really good. Has a very medical nose, like a used bandage, yukk! Its unfiltered dak brown, almost black. Flavour was great; burnt figs, coco and liqourice, very complex and varied. Smooth finish.like liqouricefoam with tobacco notes.

Bottled @ RBESG2005: Almost pith black coloured. Brown dense and thick head. Sweetness, chocolate, roast and some coffee in the nose. Flavour is full of liqourice, alcohol, light fruit and roast. Some coffee is there. Light roasty and some smooth bitterness in the end. Quite good one.

Pitch black and almost fully opaque. Yeasty aroma, with some underlying coffee. The flavour is more licorice accented, with bitter chocolate and roasty malt. But its all quite restrained and not really a blockbuster. Like Joris, I was expecting something a bit more extreme and assertive. Bottled at the Croydon Draught Beer Festival.

Bottle@Belgian Draught Beer Festival, Croydon, London. Very nice i thought, a stout, which is obviously Belgian accented. Rich mocha/chocolate, nice and soft, with a slightly yeasty Belgian character. Finish is bitter and roasty (yet soft at the same time), with a touch of warming alcohol in the finish, very pleasant.

Thick black with a tan head. Aniseed and liquorice in aroma. Tart dark fruts there too, prunes, plums etc. Sweet warming chocolate, coffee and liquorice with a destinct spicy belgian character. Some real nice dark fruits coming through. Medium to full bodied, awesome stout.

Virtually no head, grey rim for a couple of seconds; very dark brown beer with orange edges. Liquorice, burnt oats or barley, point of lactic acid nose. Sweet, but not annoying, grains, roasted and burnt grains. Sudden and surprising perfume of rosewater, bit of medicinal taste as well. Less over-full bodied than Im used to from R.I.S. Long, slick aftertaste. Im surprised. I thought going to be bowled over. Instead, it is a very discreet beer, completely hiding its ABV. Americans would make this more bold blindly.
