A black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also fruits and alcohol are present. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and fruit. The mouthfeel is quite carbonated. I better get back to this one, since my notes are very limited for such a complex beer.

Bottle. Black with small head. Chocolate, sweet liqourice, pipe tobacco, little roasted, notes of flowers, nicely balanced, low carbonation, full bodied, oily mf, not what I expected but the complexity won me over. Thanks Chris_O

(Bottle 33 cl) Very dark brown, but not completely opaque. Small, light brown head. Nose of roasted malts. Extremely full-bodied with notes of bitter, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Marked alcohol and sweetness. Light ashy notes and only a short, dry bitterness which never really balances the sweetness. But this doesn’t appear unbalanced, but very lovely. 120805

(On bottle at RBESG 2005)Started out real bad and finished really good. Has a very medical nose, like a used bandage, yukk! It´s unfiltered dak brown, almost black. Flavour was great; burnt figs, coco and liqourice, very complex and varied. Smooth finish.like liqouricefoam with tobacco notes.

Bottle @ RBESG2005. Nice roasty nose, coffee notes, some brandy. Jet black body with a red tint, medium off-white head. Sweet and roasty flavor, very nice, slight touch of alcohol.

Bottled @ RBESG2005: Almost pith black coloured. Brown dense and thick head. Sweetness, chocolate, roast and some coffee in the nose. Flavour is full of liqourice, alcohol, light fruit and roast. Some coffee is there. Light roasty and some smooth bitterness in the end. Quite good one.

Pitch black and almost fully opaque. Yeasty aroma, with some underlying coffee. The flavour is more licorice accented, with bitter chocolate and roasty malt. But its all quite restrained and not really a blockbuster. Like Joris, I was expecting something a bit more extreme and assertive. Bottled at the Croydon Draught Beer Festival.

Bottle@Belgian Draught Beer Festival, Croydon, London. Very nice i thought, a stout, which is obviously Belgian accented. Rich mocha/chocolate, nice and soft, with a slightly yeasty Belgian character. Finish is bitter and roasty (yet soft at the same time), with a touch of warming alcohol in the finish, very pleasant.
