ehhdayton (1084), USA Mar 29, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma has some coffee notes along with a bit of spice and chocolate. Flavor has a low roasted quality coupled with a bit of fruit and slight acidity.
rudolf (1561), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 6, 2008 Very dark brown with a lot of floaties. To say the head is gigantic would be an understatement. It just keeps growing, 5 or 10 minutes after pouring. Nose is the sweet caramel, toffee and maltiness of an imperial stout but also a yeasty, acidic twang. Flavor is more of that - a kind of English imperial stout - malt, cocoa, raisin but also yeast, tartness, a bit of woodiness. Maybe a bit of oxidation. Interesting stuff. chrisafari (84), Orange, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Aroma is a combination of sweet belgian easters and roasted chocolate malt. The easters are not good in an Imp. Stout. Pours dark black/brown, lighter than other Imp. Stouts. Nice lacy head retention (a little much for an Imp. Stout). Flavor is sour most of the way through, but finishes with subtle roasted malt. Leaves the tongue/palate salty. Interesting Belgian version of an Imp. Stout, but is really different than most Imperial Stouts. It seems like they were trying to press the style of an Imp. Stout, but it just wasn’t my favorite. ogivlado (2336), Zagreb, Croatia Sep 5, 2008 Bottled(330ml). -Dark brown coloured, small cappuccino head that went away fast, roasted malt and light chocolate nose. The aroma is basicly the same, roasted malt, chocolate and fruits with strong alcohol presence. The flavor is also chocolate, caramel and light fruity. Lots of sediment, light notes of nuts in the finish. MrRain (305), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottled poured into a tulip glass. APBIS pours brown with a small soapy head. It smells like licorice and prunes. The flavor is heavily licorice and cola. The finish is redeemed a bit with a more pine-like flavor. I’m not too impressed with this beer really. It’s too sweet for me. I suggest one of the other myriad of imperial stouts available. shrubber85 (2511), Wallhalben, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Chocolate, cola, and malt aroma. Cloudy brown with large head. Very sweet prune malt and strong alcohol flavor with a sour cherry finish. A bit rough.
