Bottle from Frank Smith’s, as "Alvinne Podge Oak Aged Stout" at 11%. Pours gushing to all hell and bacj as I open it, with turbid ruby mahogany color and minimal khaki head. Nose is dark fruit; dates, cherry, blackbverry, molasses, woody, earthy, maple syrup,...lovely aroma. Tastes super rich, with notes of yeasty dates, blackberry, fig, oaky woody earthy bourbon, and a very complex, smooth, and delicious finish with extremely well hidden alcohol. More like a fruity BW than an RIS, this one is awesome.

Another kind gift from Mes. Dark brown with a nice beige head. Some tart sourness in the nose. Obvious oak aging and even more obvious woody notes. Not that stout like really. Something about this didn’t realy light my fire but good brew never the less.

A Mes rate: Bottle at the Tom’s awesome Twickenham Brewery tasting. Many thanks to the Alvinne thanks for giving me a sizeable sample of this. Very dark brown with an excellent beige head. Awesome wood, chewy malt and fruity chocolate. The wooden sour notes work so well. The blend of oak aged and young stout is pretty much done to perfection. Superb length in the finish that is full of oak, malt and chocolate. A fantastic beer and something I have wanted to try for a long time. Thanks guys.

Bottle at De Proefzolder, Heule, Belgium Hazy/clear deep caramel coloured body. Aroma of port, liquorice, liquor, alcohol, oak, sherry, port, liquorizia (Calabrian type of liquor), ... Moderately sweet flavour. Not very complex and balance is not totally perfect. Very ok, but not overwhelming.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Comes as "Alvinne Podge Oak Aged Stout" at 11% ABV. Clear, reddish brown with a dense, beige head leaving some lacework. Distinct oaky nose, some hard roasted malt and a light acidity. Medium-bodied, very lively, plenty of hard roasted malts, fruit and distinct oak notes. Lightly tart finish - mainly from the malt. Quite lovely but not that Stout-like really. 040408
