Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, fruits and some wood notes. Finishes a bit drier with some alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. A great one.
harrisoni (5382), Ashford, Kent, England Jul 21, 2008 Twickenham Brewery tasting 08. Very dark brown thick beige head. Some of that vanillary oaky flavour. Woody and herby. Not bad, but not my kinda beer. Some sourness. Mes_and_Sim (4495), Highgate, Greater London, England Jul 20, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at the Tom’s awesome Twickenham Brewery tasting. Many thanks to the Alvinne thanks for giving me a sizeable sample of this. Very dark brown with an excellent beige head. Awesome wood, chewy malt and fruity chocolate. The wooden sour notes work so well. The blend of oak aged and young stout is pretty much done to perfection. Superb length in the finish that is full of oak, malt and chocolate. A fantastic beer and something I have wanted to try for a long time. Thanks guys. diabel (1210), Aarschot, Belgium Jun 23, 2008 Bottle at De Proefzolder, Heule, Belgium Hazy/clear deep caramel coloured body. Aroma of port, liquorice, liquor, alcohol, oak, sherry, port, liquorizia (Calabrian type of liquor), ... Moderately sweet flavour. Not very complex and balance is not totally perfect. Very ok, but not overwhelming. Papsoe (10579), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 19, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Comes as "Alvinne Podge Oak Aged Stout" at 11% ABV. Clear, reddish brown with a dense, beige head leaving some lacework. Distinct oaky nose, some hard roasted malt and a light acidity. Medium-bodied, very lively, plenty of hard roasted malts, fruit and distinct oak notes. Lightly tart finish - mainly from the malt. Quite lovely but not that Stout-like really. 040408 KimJohansen (4299), Copenhagen V, Denmark Apr 7, 2008 Hazy dark brown with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with notes of roasted malt, caramel and overripe fruits. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, ripe fruits and caramel notes.
