Bottle, shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew and Foffern. Slightly hazy nougat-hued brown body with a small and short-lived white head. Nose is caramel, oak, vinous sour vinegar tones, vanilla, sour grapes and hints of grassy herbs. Nice. Taste is sour balsamic-like oaky tones, vanilla, caramel, hints of wood, sour grapes and lactic acid. Medium palate, soft carbonation. Nice and relatively accessible sour ale in the Flemish tradition. Me likes very much.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Palme (2234) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 8, 2013
0.5l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a clear dark golden one with a medium sized islandy grey top. Not to extreme on the nose, but some woody acidity here. Yeah, sour red berries like red currants and lingon berries. Not to much more really, perhaps a swift of some sweet caramel, but that’s it. Strong grain-sourness. The green grapes that is, and the wood is present. What’s not present is the Bordeaux barrels this has been stored on. White currants, sour leafs and soft white wine vinegar towards the finish. Some acetone as well. Alvinne is an exciting brewer, a bit strange perhaps, but exciting. 06.02.2013
