Pours medium amber. Reticent aromas of citrus, barnyard funk, and light malt. The same in the mouth, citrus, some cheesiness, balsam, with a pronounced sourness - this is not for the faint of heart. Long finish, some carbonation. A good sour.

Bottle at home. Slight hazy golden with barely any head. Fruity Brett notes, sour red grapes, hay. Then lots of lactic notes with yoghurt, cream cheese, sour milk, sour apple juice. Light malts and cornflakes, but mostly it’s the yeast character that takes the stage. Medium sour and very light sweet and bitter and a bit of salty corn. Under medium bodied with soft carbonation.

500ml bottle picked up at Vinmonopolet Vika three years ago. Lingering noisy, off-white head. Misty amber-gold in body colour. Oak and tart fruity nose. Yeast, oak, caramel and sour fruity flavours. Vinous tartness to the ending, half-dry. Refreshing to a certain extent (shared with Finn and djoeye at a session in Tromsø, 01.02.2016).

Flaske 500ml spandert av Rune. Delt med ham og djoeye i WCveien 1 Feb 15. Gylden. Høyt bobleskum som daler fort - med lyd! Beskjeden, lett syrlig fruktaroma. Smaken "surøl light". Tørr etter hvert. Ettersmak av syrlige bær.

Look; noisy! layer, deep golden. Aroma; belgian fruity, yeasty berryish. Taste; juicy, sour berries, not too heavy, juicy malts - finishes with fruits the belgian style. Palate; semi dry, nice fizz. Overall; nice pal alone, or to fish, or the grapes. [Btl@Session w Rune&Finn, BB.sep.2017]

(Rating #6624)

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet perfumy malt with smooth Epsom salts, lemon juice, light fruity esters, very nice. In mouth, a nice tart sour ale with lemon juice character, Epsom salts, light Brett, light fruity esters, nice sweetness, very nice. On tap at Ginger Man NYC.

Pours a slightly hazy, dark golden copper color with apricot colored edges and a half finger foam head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind. Strong lactic funk in the aroma along with some damp oak, peppery spice and vinous dark fruit. Nice combination of red wine barrel and lactic cheesiness from the Morpheus yeast. Subtle toothpick and dry oak along with dark grape, cherry, currant and other dark berries. Nice barrel presence but the blonde ale notes are undetectable and the lactic presence is much stronger than expected. Not unpleasant, jut a really weird scent mixed with the Bordeaux barrel. Tart and puckering with sour acidity, lactic funk and a very prominent vinous red wine barrel. Subtle acetic vinegar presence but not solvent like at all. Has the tart dryness of Kriek but not as sour/acidic. The sourness is countered by funky lactic cheesiness but this isn’t as strong as in the aroma. The Bordeaux barrel flavors really stand out adding sweetness and complexity. The barrel is subtle with a touch of oak and vanilla but it’s bursting with vinous, juicy dark grape, sour cherry, plum and other dark berries. Kind of like a mix of rodenbach grand cru, red wine barrel aged American wild and Belgian Oude Kriek. I wasn’t expecting much going in but this beer really surprised me with it’s complexity. Sour but not harsh with really great barrel flavors.
