Almost unhopped brown ale, the base beer for Morpheus Wild and Kerasus, undressed for the fans of the true "oud bruin" style.

Bottle @ HÝjbjerg tasting. Small head with short duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are sour fruits, malt, berries, lactose acid and little hops. Nice sour finish.

Currently I am updating my ratebeer with al the beers I drank but was too lazy to rate at the time. I give the scores I gave back than. If I drink the beers again I might re-rate them.

Stubby bottle, 11.2 oz, from what looks to be LOT 580, JUL 2017. So very young. Nose is very sharply sour out of the bottle, strong in acetic (more cherrylike Balsamic), lesser fruit with a touch of candy, lots of yeast movement without gushing. Poured that beautiful red-brown mix I was hoping for, head is soapy tan/light brown (black in-glass) with some mild painterís red mixed in. Taste sharply sour with tons of wood and even a little light toast, has some funk notes and immediately engages the salivary glands. Less cherry than expected and more dry, roasty brown malt, especially in the finish. Very dry/attenuated. Some light funk that reminds me of something unknowable from my childhood, and significantly dirty, above-avg metallic character to match softer lactic. That intense woody-dirty character is fascinating, especially in the aftertaste, a little dusty with fallen leaves in the autumn, not really like anything else Iíve ever had, but then again, not something Iíll be craving anytime soon. Medium body with light bitterness, up to medium by the end, and surprising in the complete absence of hops. Very little sign of alcohol, but there are some smoky phenols that barely mesh. Chewing on an unvarnished old wooden windowsill, plus singed pretzel, awesome!

Aroma is dark fruit/vinous, dry malts and sour/tartness. The flavor is fruit, malts, relatively thin body and a very tart/mildly sugary finish.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2014 Bottle. Clear dark brown with thin off white head. Vaguely plasticy and a bit smokey. Ok.

Bought at Liquor Shed. No foam in the pour, itís an opaque brownish red colour. Big sour nose of vinegar, dark fruits, cherries. Iím diving in. Deliciously sour with everything Iíve already mentioned. I yearn for another sip. Despite the lack of foam, thereís a nice level of carbonation. Simply excellent!

Brown pour some creamy head. Aroma leather, acid, hay , wheat, funk. Tastes big apple cider vinegar. Funk, not enough smooth yeastiness and a bit too much acidity. Slight BBQ flavor.

Het slechtste bier dat ik van Alvinne geprobeerd heb, echt een tegenvaller van formaat

One of the countless experiments from this brewery of permanent experimentation (hard to follow, if you ask me). Apparently not hopped, a feature of extreme rarity, at least in modern-day beer culture; the fact, however, that Alvinne seems to be trying to brew some fantasy historical ale here, can account for this, as hops were generalised in Flanders only in the 14th century. Foam virtually non-existent, some bubbles, but disappearing as quickly as they came during pouring; colour a hazy bronze. Aroma outrageously fruity (apricot, sour berries, cherry, green apple), malty with what appears to be a smoked accent, balsamic vinegar, bitter chocolate, sour cream, gentle spices; taste equally fruity with a nutty and at times somewhat woody maltiness, desiccating sourishness leading to a long, dry finish. Didnít know what to think of this beer, and although I am inclined to welcome anything out of the ordinary for the sake of experiment alone, they didnít succeed in balancing a sour beer reminiscent of íoud bruiní without the hops, in my view. Sorry Glenn!
