English: We expected banjos and Bourbon but received nothing of that sort. Instead our brew day with the handsome fellers of Against The Grain Brewery from Louisville, Kentucky turned into a hotdog eating contest. Yep, no kiddin’. Big Kentuckian feller, Sam, challenged our own big feller, Jacob, as to who could down the most gourmet hotdogs, big and spicy as they were with specialty toppings. Well, Sam should never have done that….should you Sam? However, a beer was indeed brewed in between all the trash talk and wieners. We hope you’ll enjoy this hoppy Imperial Brown Ale - it was designed to go with hotdogs in particular and other spicy and smoked foods.

Ingredients: Water. Malts: Pale, Brown, Melanoidin, Biscuit, Chocolate. Hops: Herkules, Tomahawk, East Kent Goldings, Cascade, Simcoe. Yeast: US-ale.

Otroligt grumlig, som gammalt rostskadat brunnsvatten. Mycket smakrik, bra beska. Som utlovat gungar den perfekt till grillen.

16.9 oz bottle poured into a nonic pint glass. Dark amber brown with two fingers of beige head. Aromas of pine, floral, toffee, light cocoa and malt. Tastes of floral, toast, biscuit, light pine, caramel and toffee, light cocoa. Medium body with a dry finish. Nice hopped up Imperial Brown. Think I got this a year ago during RBWG 2015, seems to have held up well.

Bottled. Coppery brown colour with a small beige creamy head. Aroma is nutty, some sweet maltiness as well as toasted and mild floral notes. Flavour is nutty, floral, some sweet malts, a bit toasted notes with a quite strong bitterness kicking in the finish.

Bottle, 0.50l. Cloudy deep brown color with thick creamy tan-like head and average visible carbonation. Aroma of dark fruits, biscuit, mild roasted malt, smoke and some bourbon. Taste starts with moderate sweet and rich caramel malt, following is fruity, mild roasted and woody, mouth feel is spicy, while finish is heavy bitter. Medium to full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. True Christmas delight...

(bottle - 500 ml) Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Nutty and hoppy aroma with some caramel and toffee hints. Flavor is smooth and sweet at the start with a good nutty middle and a lightly bitter finish. Was kind of hoping there’d be sausage in it. [9/12/15]

Hazy brown pour from a bottle I picked up in AZ. Kind of a creepy label. Slight off white head and some lacing. Malty nose with a hint of bourbon booze. Roasted, smoked malt taste with some booze and a strong hop presence. Not really my thing. Wish I had a hotdog to go with this, as the label suggests.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Papsoe. Cloudy brown with a tan-yellow head. Faint smoke, a little hops and a little caramel aroma, smoky, bitter, hoppy and dry taste. Very carbonated, medium body, hoppy, bitter and faint smoky finish.

Starts with very inviting nose, maybe thats way taste afterwards seems bit too plain, but anyways, quite a treat! Intense maltiness, nice coffee, caramel, nuts, bit licorice, some nice hop boost. MOderate sweetness with moderate bitterness. Well balanced and bold brew.

Aroma: melanoidins, roasted caramel and nuts, dried red fruits. Appearance: hazy brown color, creamy head. Taste: medium bitterness, roasted notes, coffee, nuts, caramel, crunch bread skin, dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, roasted finish. Overall: Good stuff, but it tastes like a doppelsticke.
