Bouteille 500ml.

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a dark chesnut brown with a thick off white head. The aroma is rich, fruity and alcoholic. The flavour is big fruity, alcoholic bitter, The alcohol dominates, but its not overpowering. It’s a lovely heart warming beer. Well worth tracking down.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dorwart (2267) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Thin head of varying sized bubbles that does not last long. Strong caramel and cherry aroma with some brown sugar, roasted grains and some earthy aromas. Color is a dark copper brown. Rather strong bitterness and bite to this brew. Dried flowers, straw, tea leaves, piney hops, dry toasted malts and some more brown sugar. Body is much thinner than I expected, pretty much too thin as it doesn’t really have any malt body to offet the alcohol and bitterness. Noticable alcohol presence and warming. Little astringent palate which leaves a dry and chalky mouthfeel. Finishes hot and dry. Ok brew but not digging this too much.

Bottle from Haskell’s only $5.99! Pours red amber and hazy with a sudsy frothy head that slowly settles to film and lacing. Aroma has nice caramel malt and hops blended well. Taste has decent dry dusty hops which show a little bitterness and then the caramel malts take hold and blend well. Palate is medium sticky and chalky. Enjoyable!

Bottle at home. 2011 Vintage. Pour is murky cola with a small white head that quickly dissipated; decent lacing. Aroma is big sweet fruits, licorice, strawberries, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and a touch of bourbon. Taste is big raisins, figs, toffee, caramel, light roast, a touch of grapefruit, candi sugar, and orange peel with a light bitter finish. Sticky/creamy mouthfeel with high carbonation. Above average barley wine, but nothing that will blow you away.

Bottled.
Off-dry, medium to full bodied, high bitterness.
Malty, hoppy taste, lightly sour, quite yeasty. The alcohol is very pronounced, this beer is not very balanced. (2009-09-25)

16.9oz bottle, aged the better part of a year in my closet. Unfiltered brown-red color, oily off-white head, some soapy edges. Assumably the hops have faded a little, which is unfortunate. There is some mild earthy bitterness, but way more rich caramel, bourbon candy like boozy sweetness. While it does have the rich resinous hoppy feel of a good US Barleywine, there are also mellow, malty fruity ale tones not unlike an Old Ale. Significantly thicker and deeper in color as i poured out the second half of the bottle, giving it a creamier, yeastier mouthfeel. Quite a nice Barleywine!

Rich amber color with a shallow froth. Good lacing. Faint aromas of sweet malt yet defined briskness. Full nectar with good carbonation. Silky texture, balanced flavor with a bit of heat, mildly sweet with a bitter hop finish.

Bottle from AJ’s Arcadia. I’d classify this more of a barleywine style. Good hoppy, caramely, sweet nose. Tastes similarly- sweet, syrupy malts balanced with a big, citrusy, hop kick. As good as any American strong or barleywine here in the states, but lacking in complexity. Good overall, though.
