COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Huge, very dense dark-beige head over deep dark orange-brown beer, with some strange blobs. Nice USA hops’ nose, very dry, dusty bales, bit of sweat, hopoils à gogo. Hefty combination of noble hops and bitter-roasted stout flaovurs (the last first, then the hops holding out); dark exotic fruit. Medium bodied, bit of grist slickness, dusty hopoil feel. Nice original interpretation. Like it.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2011 Bottle. An unclear, dark brown beer with a light tan medium sized head. Slightly roasted on the nose, but mostly meaty and especially piney and resiny. The flavor has some roasted malts giving chocolate and cofffee, with sufficient hops to bring balance with it’s bitterness and resiny, citrusy flavors. Bitter finish. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Ummm. Rating: 7-4-8-4-16-3.9. 100827

Bottle. It’s a clear, very dark brown beer with just a little reddish hue. The head is creamy as hell, beige in color, two-fingers thick and with good retention. It leaves rows of cute lacings as the beer is drank. Lovely nose with lots of resiny, piney and citrusy hops, leaving the very present malts in the background. A pleasant burnt note shines through. Some notes of alcohol too, but only if you dig in deep. Flavorwise it’s also hop-dominated, not too bitter, and with enough sweetness to cope with both hops and alcohol. At least most of the hops. It feels a bit watery on the palate, quite strange, as it’s sure a full-bodied beer. The finish has a good caramel malty sweetness to back up the bitterness that lasts really long. Overall, a really well crafted beer that I wouldn’t mind repeat several times. 100526

Bottled (Beer Hunters, BB 12/2010)
Dark almost opaque black color, good creamy beige head, good lacing. Resiny, sweaty hoppy aroma, some underlying wheaty malty notes. I was waiting for hoppy IPA, but it is totally something else: toasted malts, milk stout sweetness, licorice then some hops. Tasty and very very interesting hybrid beer.

Bottle shared by the Amager guys! Delightful piney and floral hop aroma with a smooth sophisticated roasty character. Flavor follows exactly, I found it to be plenty fresh and very tasty even though the guys tell me it still wasn’t as good as it was a few weeks before! Smooth, easy drinking, maintains that IPA punch, the roast is not astringent, easy to see why this is at the top of the "dark" IPA’s.
