black pour with a fair sized tan head. bitter hops and roast fight for your attention in the aroma. Very well balanced. Hoppy, pine, grapefruit nicely blanced with sweet malt, cocoa, black coffee, wood. Medium body. Hope this gets released again!

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, grass, pine, slight earthy notes, hints of coffee and cocoa in there as well. Taste is a mix of roast, coffee, chocolate, some orange peel, nice earthy notes into some pine, finishing fairly bitter, dry. Pretty well made, no ashy notes or off flavors.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a large creamy brown head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, roasty malts, pine, a touch of dank. Flavor is the same, light sweet and light bitter. Medium body, creamy. Nice balance for a black IPA.

Pours a deep umber color with a finger of khaki foam. Lots of cocoa dusted pine cone, citrus and a sliky caramel maltiness. This is what a Black IPA should taste like... with eyes closed you would think this to maybe be a copper colored ipa with a body and mouthfeel to match but the traces of cocoa dust take the caramel stickiness out of the mix and balance out the citrus and pine nicely. Delicious brew !

Bottle with coworkers. Pours a deep brown, near black, with medium somewhat lasting tan head and thick foam lace. Aroma is grapefruit, roasted malt, some caramel, vegetal hop. Medium body, slightly oily. Taste is citrus, grapefruit mostly, burnt malt. Lingering bitterness and astringency with some band-aid notes

16.9 oz bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; an opaque dark brownish black with foamy beige head. Smells of dark malt, hops, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a bit of dark chocolate as well. Pleasant on the palate. A good example of the style.

$9.99 + VT tax for the 500 mL bottle purchased from Hunger Mountain Saturday morning. To long-stemmed wine glass, it pours a dark brown: creamily sudsy beige head 1½ fingers in length. Aromas of Centennial, Pearl and Midwest hops, algae, sea salt, limeade, pinot grigio grapes, orange zest, farmhouse yeast, and sweat, and cardboard. Tastes the same with the addition of dark chocolate, Port wine, coffee dregs, oolong tea, wormwood, spruce tips, pine needles, dried minced garlic, pipe smoke, and avocados. Intensely earthy and bitter. Some caramelized onion experienced at swallow. Its ABV, even at 7.5%, smacked me on the head by the first sip, so be careful with this one. Did anyone also detect fungi? I thought there was a slight yet noticeable mushroom characteristic peaking through the hops, earth, and smoke.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured black color with a large frothy tan head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt and hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good beer.
