COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

from erzbierschof.ch - pours a very dark beer with a persistent dark beige foam; correct lacing; aroma of chocolate and vanilla; full-bodied and with some sweetness, a solid bitterness and a long chocolatey aftertaste with notes of coffee, hops and licorice

(Bottle) Very dark brown colour, almost black with ruby hints through light. Lasting beige head, leaving traces of lacing. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, dark chocolate, pine needles and fresh resinous hops. Roasted, malty taste with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, grapefruit and pine needles. Generous resiny bitterness in well roasted finish. More than medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Very tasty and very nice, and all in lovely balance. Impressive beer!

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2011 This one is very good. Best of the night. Pours a very deep brown, almost no light coming through. A small light tanned head is produced with some average lacing. Aroma is full of coffee and slight hops. Coffee is very prominant in flavour. Hops presence is slightly under par with some sweet fruits in the background. Very good, easy drinking brew. Not overly complex but a great beer none the less

Bottle, Hopduvel. Pours black, huge brownish head... Strong amarillo hop nose, typical grapefruit aroma. But also a wee bit of coffee hidden behind it. Taste is bitter throughout, but in a good way (also great amarillo burps afterwards), with some bitter coffee it is more complementig than I expected. Also has some retronasal wood/oak aroma with some sourness. Palate is good, medium carbonation, not the most silky brew, quite some lingering bitterness. Overall a good brew.

Pours an almost black hue with ruby highlights when struck with light. Small light, light tan head - almost white. Little lacing and the head quickly fades into the almost darkness. Hops. But just a little bit. When you use a fake style to categorize it, it should at least be heavy in the namesake. Doesn’t even taste like cascade, which it probably doesn’t even contain. Little sweetness mixed in with a hop flavor. No roasted taste like I thought would be there. Little bit of bitterness. Thin. Slightly bitter. No residual sweetness that was present in the taste. Not too bad. It is lacking in a lot of things that it was categorized as, but is a pretty decent brew. I would definitely drink again. Nothing is so over the top in the beer that would actually tire my palate. But it is a little one dimensional. But still very good.

Bottle from Systembolaget. It poured a very dark ruby-amber liquid that was almost pitch black. Medium sized light brown-beige head. Smell and taste of chocolate, hops, herbs, grass and a hint of coffee. Stingy mouthfeel. Nice Black IPA.

Absolut trevlig
