COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a frothy beige head that lasts and leaves good lacing. Body is kinda thin, medium bitter, no roastyness, aroma of grass and dark malt and a long bitter finish. Doesn’t come together for me.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is mixed citrus with very roast malt backbone. Make that toast malt. Med body or better. Flavor is very hoppy, quite bitter, and mostly citrus. Bold flavors and strong. Finishing well towards dry and bitter enough for me. Which is saying something. Good stuff.

Boozy smell ,the taste is black licorice ,bitter with a hint of bitter coffee or chocolate notes. This is a hard one to drink if you are expecting something different, but for a dark IPA, it sure hits the notes.

On tap @ Prohibition Pig. Dark brown with a medium creamy beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, piney notes, hints of smoke and a weird raisins presence like in some cough syrup. Taste is of slighty sweet and moderately bitter with roasted malt, resinous notes, light smoke and the same weird raisins presence. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Dry finish. Interesting Black IPA. Nice mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden. It would be a really good one if it was not of the raisins.

Pours black with a creamy tan head. Dark roasted malt aroma, coffee and pine aromas. Flavor starts off roasted malt smokiness, dark chocolate and slight espresso. Followed by grapefruit and earthy hops and finishing with a pine resin hop bitterness. Bitterness dissapates quickly and fairly smooth finish.
