50 cl. bottle @ home / split between me and Belgbeergeek – thx to him –batch 195 – most likely a vintage bottle / BB: 08/2012 – (A) very dark brown, whatever head there is here, it is very brief – (S) strongly peated with dominating burning plastic & peated earth smell in the mix, strongly roasted malts – (T) sweet boozy, smoked & burned malts, melting plastic, burned car tires, burned coffee, cold coffee black bread, peat, molases sweetness, scorched wood, dirt, bitter coffee, is there really no peat in this? – (B) slightly thinned, still very oily, slick, soft carb. – bit too much rubber/burned earth in this one, not bad but touch too much, still not that crazy about this kinds of beers despite a fondness for Islay whiskey, too much is too much and distilled that stuff is very different

Not a shock that this is a smoked beer, but after reading all the dangers on the back of the lable, it is actually not that bad smoked. Good beer because it has more to offer than smoke, perfect to burnt grilled food which it was tested.

50cl bottle, batch#195, BB 08/2012 bought at Alvinne beershop.
Couleur brune claire, col beige.
Arôme donne bien le ton, énormément de malt fumé laissant un profile cendre, malt caramel en retrait.
Palais, malt grillé, et torréfié avec bien au devant le malt fumé.
Le tout est sec, aspect de cendre et tourbe, grains concassés, bière semble au delà de l’alcool indiqué, très agréable et un fini réchauffant qui garde toujours ce profile sublime du malt fumé. J’adore.
Une très belle bière fumée, j’aimerai bien voir la même version en plus léger.

Clear very dark reddish brown with a big beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and lots of peated smoke. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. I can almost feel the smoke coming out of my nose. 040811

Basically a good smoked beer, but I prefer Schlenkerla. Nonetheless worth a try.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge light tan head. The aroma has notes of smoke, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke, slightly peated and slightly beech wood, combined with caramel and malt, leading to a dry smokey finish.

Dark brown colored beer. Smell little malts but mostly smoke. Taste a little sour and off course smokey. Not my style I think, but decent.

Bottle. Creamy off-white excellent fully lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and very ugly baconsmoked aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Not as bad smoked as feared. Some nutty notes. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.
