COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: An experimental single-hop Hefe Weizen.
A beer which is rarely experimented radically with is the German version of wheat beer Hefe Weizen or Weiss Bier. It’s one of the most classic and conservative stylistically, one can imagine. That is, until Amager gave it a service check ...
We have thrown in bucket loads of one of our favourite hops Citra, Which is quite a newly developed hop variety only a few years old. The classic weizen typically develops mild sweet banana tones, with the addition of our Citra-hop we have added fresh citrus notes such as grapefruit, lime, tangerine, lemon and if you have an open mind you may also find papayas, pineapples, mangoes, lychees and passion fruit.
It’s kind of a firework display from the supermarket’s fruit section - go with it. We think it’s one of the most refreshing we’ve made.

Bottle @ home. Orange blonde, cloudy. Lemon in the aroma. Wheaty and lightly perfumed, somewhat yeasty flavor with fresh lemon juice. Mint and yeast in the aftertaste. Lacks a bit of balance.

Opaque yellow in color with a hint of white head. Light citrus hop aroma. Light bodied wheaty but (citrus) hops dominate the flavor

Bottle. A big, creamy, off-white head over an unclear, yellow-golden body. The aroma is very citrusy and peachy, some mango and grapefruit notes. and a sugary, pineapple hint. Mango, peaches and citrus in the flavor, low on bitterness, which suits the beer just fine. Mediium body, pleasant carbonation. An unusual but quite nice weissbier. 110610

In short: A yeasty wheat beer with a aggressive bitter hopping. A bit too aggressive for its own good.
How: Bottle 500ml. Exact age unknown (forgot to note the expiration date) but probably 6 to 12 months of age, as fresh as an Amager can be in North-America
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by an enormous white head with good retention. The last 20% of the bottle had nasty looking big chunks of yeast
In long: The intensely hoppy nose is tropical fruits, pineapple upside down cake, floral hops and more. Taste has light notes of bananas, lots of yeast, tropical fruits, freshly squeezed lemons. The beer is very bitter and also quite acidic which makes for an abrasive finish. Carbonation was a little too aggressive. Overall I’m not too sure what this beer is trying to do. A hoppy wheat ale that is too abrasive to be refreshing. Puzzling. But at least it is tasty and certainly not boring. That’s my opinion, and when drinking a beer I’m usually the best beer taster in the room, because I’m all alone in my house, because nobody wants to drink with a pretentious know-it-all like me.

500ml bottle, batch 288, slight hazy blonde hue, with a big rocky bubbly white head, spicy, yeasty, herbal nose of kind of dill pickle, with some tropical fruit esters of rambutan, lychee, with some floral lemongrass, lime, lemon, grapefruit peel hop notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good fruity, yeasty pineapple, lychee, pear, grapefruit, lime, lemon rind, flowery leafy, cedary hop character, with a spicy lemongrass, fraint dill undertone and a zesty citrusy backbone, leading towards a light pear, lychee fruitiness, good citrus, zesty lime, lemon, grapefruit rind hop bitterness finish.

Bouteille.
