COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle at home, 3 year old sample. Appearance: pitch black beer, no foam whatsoever! Nose: chocolate, very sugary, some coffee, wood, vanilla. Taste: chocolate, rather sticky and heavy, alcohol, vanilla, wood. Taste stays in your mouth really long! Gets a lot better when warming up a little! Very oily beer, almost no carbonation noticeable.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with liquorice, oak wood, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate and espresso. Malty, roasted taste with notes of oak wood, bourbon, vanilla, liquorice, coffee, molasses, black rye bread and a balanced piney bitterness in the finish. Full body, velvety mouthfeel, quite sweet. The bourbon almost overshadows the coffee. Nice beer.

0.375l corked bottle from #146 bought at Systembolaget Passagen. Bought apx one year ago, and saved for an occasion. New Year eve? Why not. It pours a dark brown body with a light almost fizzing, quickly fading and thinly sidesticking off-white top. Oh, my this smells good! Tons of salty licorice, bourbon, chocolate fudge, dark home made rum chocolate truffles with cocoa powder, nugatti, nuts, dark old dusty port, glazed sweet dark sugar coted berries and sweet woody cherry. This is just plain old fantastic! It has an average carbonation level and a surprisingly light oily mouthfeel. Was expecting a thick oily thing on the palate, but it’s quite refined and light. The taste is filled with old dusty wood blended with ashtray, salty licorice, flower water, licorice pastilles, booze, a little bit of dentist office and dried dark berries. After that amazing aroma - I have to say that I had hoped for a bit more on the taste. Still, one really fine sipper this! 31.12.2012

Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Semi crisp palate with prickly carbonation. Sweet woody backdrop. Mild vanilla and mild coffee. Sweet whisky. Finishes with mild minerals. Really well joined up and light on it’s fee for it’s abv.

Bottle from Papsoe. Thanks Brother. Drank this with my buddy Aaron who lived in Denver for a few years and had visited the Stranahan Distillery. Pours a slightly muddy darker brown with a small tannish head, light lace, carbonation is a little low. Nose is port, sherry, brown sugar, cinnamon, light coffee roast, cocoa. Flavor is similar--drinks a lot like port or sherry, but maybe a tad less rich and more roast from the faded coffee. Light brown sugar, vanilla, and tobacco finish. A nice dessert sipper and definitely not your typical coffee beer.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours midnight black with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head that never quite dissipates. The complex nose features red wine, sour cherries and vanilla with a gentle splash of malt whiskey. Full-bodied and velvety with kicked-back carbonation. The flavor is a decadent mélange of lightly acidic red wine, blackstrap molasses, pouch tobacco and dark mocha. Finishes chocolaty, vinous and tangy. Not a whole lot of coffee in this one. Still a fantastic beer. Kudos to Plovmand for providing this world class ale!

(37.5cl bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clear very deep espresso brown, clear deep tan head. Nose of coffee, rich cream, biscotti, alcohol, whiskey, complex. Taste of coffee, brownie, bakers chocolate, whiskey, a bit alcoholic. Not as complex as the nose leads on. Too much alcohol to be top tier.
