COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

courtesy of thomas and Philipp - black beer with a poor head retention; solid sour woody bourbon-like aroma, coffee and vanilla, licorice; fairly sweet and very bitter; long chocolatey and coffeish finish with assertive and very astringent woody notes, caramel and licorice - nice example of what you should not do with wood ageing

Bottle: Thanks Papsø: Served in a Chouffe glass: Batch 146: Deep dark brown pour. Medium to smaller beige to light brown foamy head that disappears quick and leaves a headless black beer in my glass. Aromas of vinous, tar, roast, liquorice, liquor, alcohol, tar, some rubber. Deep dark vinous roast. Heavy yet complex! Flavours of roast, tar, liquor, vinous, spicy, hint of alcohol, bitter, coal, vanilla, roasted barley malts, bourbon, cream, raisin and berries, deep dark roast! Aftertaste is a mix of roast, tar, rubber, roast, coal, liquor and liquorice. Low carbo, soft creamy yet light spicy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture.

Hmm

Batch 146. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is equally as exciting. I get a lot of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt notes, but I also get some light smoke and alcohol. Medium to thick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Very nice imperial stout.

37,5cl bottle thanks to Papsoe. Wow! Very dark color with thin brownish head. Carbonation is ok. Texture is oily. Bitterness is there and sweetness also. Wow! This is pure coffee! Aroma is pure pure coffee with alcohol and dried fruits.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 Bottle at home, 3 year old sample. Shared with Mathieu87. Appearance: pitch black beer, no foam whatsoever! Nose: chocolate, very sugary, some coffee, wood, vanilla. Taste: chocolate, rather sticky and heavy, alcohol, vanilla, wood. Taste stays in your mouth really long! Gets a lot better when warming up a little! Very oily beer, almost no carbonation noticeable.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with liquorice, oak wood, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate and espresso. Malty, roasted taste with notes of oak wood, bourbon, vanilla, liquorice, coffee, molasses, black rye bread and a balanced piney bitterness in the finish. Full body, velvety mouthfeel, quite sweet. The bourbon almost overshadows the coffee. Nice beer.
