Madsnp (102), Vinens Verden, Slotsgade, Denmark Apr 16, 2008 Bottle #1777 batch 52. Pitch black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted and spicy, with notes of chocolate, wood, vanilla and some coffee. Very complex, almost like a heavy perfume from the 80’s. Flavours of roasted coffee, fruity sweetness, licorice and some bitter and dry hops in the aftertaste. The beer gives a little sticky-sugar feeling on the lips, but that’s not a real complain. Great beer! Can’t wait to try it on a hot summer day :)
Magic_dave6 (3536), London, England Jul 24, 2008 Bottle at the RBESG08 Grand tasting. Alround rating: Huge roasty character, salty tar, big alcohol up front, soo rich, soo over powering, i just couldnt drink it. This infact scored 0.7 in my book, but the site wont let me add the rating at 0.7. Dickinsonbeer (2480), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle- thanks to Briank!! Pours a nice deep dark woody blackish, with a thin beige head. Aroma is chocolate malts, roasty, vanilla hints, whiskey barrel character, and some fresh coffee which was nice- but not outstanding- loved the fredrickson nose much more. A bit more bourbony whiskey comes through in the flavor, roasty malts, some burnt almost smokey malts, chocolate and coffee with some light earthiness and a note of over burnt french fry. Smooth and medium bodied. Nice barrel aged imperial stout with big alcohol, but isn’t over the top, overoaked, or overbourboned. Pinball (255), Allerød, Denmark Jul 21, 2008 25cl, batch #52, bottle 896. aroma :chocolate, alcohol, aged something. appearance : pitch black, quite small brown head. Flavor : wow, well, you could’ve told me it was 20% alc, and i’d believe it. STRONG. chocolate not as dominating as in aroma. i get sweet notes, liqeur , alc. nice brew, but almost more like booze than a beer. I’v had better extreme stout’s than this, but it IS good. the way the barrel flavors mix in is ... cool. TBone (4841), Pori, Finland Jul 20, 2008 Bottled@RBESG Grand Tasting 2008
Pitch black, small steady tan head. Strong vanilla and oak aroma. Licoricey, alcoholic, oaky and very roasted. Outstanding, good stuff. Roastyness and oak flavors just nicely in balance. Doggythedog (919), Split, Croatia Jul 14, 2008 Bottle, RBESG08 grand tasting. Hope I’m rating the right beer. Very dark brown/black body. Soy sauce in the nose (and something illegible). Salty taste, soy sauce again, ok maltiness. Amager did better beers than this.
