Pour opaque black, with a slight lighter hue around the edges, and a very small tan head. Aroma is packed with coffee, chocolate and whiskey. Oak, vanilla, soy sauce, licorice?. smoky and ashy notes as well. The whiskey and oak is present all the way, with hints of tobacco towards the end. Taste is quite sweet, with a burned and slight bitter aftertaste. Medium and oily body, with a semi-flat carbonation. This brew, was the one introduced to me, when i got into craft beer a couple a years ago. Still going strong...

Loads of character from the barrel, similar to BA gonzo. Aroma and flavor is whisky, oak with vanilla notes, chocolate and coffee. Delicious!

250mL thanks to anders37. Deep, clear sepia pour with cola highlights. Thinning, tan head. Nose is quite nice: muted bourbon, big umami and medium soy, cinnamon, sweet chocolate. Muted fusel notes. Taste is quite thin, very thin for style, with a hefty dose of ash and dirty earth. Aftertaste is a bit boozy and mouthfeel is so intensely watery that it feels like a mixed drink from a bar like a splash of Kahlua atop a vodka water. Probably the thinnest mouthfeel of any 11% + abv I’ve ever experienced.

In bottle, thanks Craig! A black beer with a thin tan head. Aroma is a little salty with leather, liquorice, caramel, roasty malt and alcohol. Similar flavours with chocolate, caramel, roasty malt and salty liquorice. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Woody, barrely aroma, a little musty, moss booze, wood, alcohol, light vanilla and chocolate. More or less black pour with islands of tan foam. Flavors of basement, bitter roast, a little inky black patent malts acridness. Earthy roasty and woody finish. Light sweetness from the bourbon. Becomes a little fruitier as it opens up and sweetness emerges. A touch hot as well.

Bottle: Batch #52 Bottle No. 209: Smalland lively brownhead changes into a brown lacing quick and than there is only a black beer left. Smellliquorice, vanilla, roasted mslts and wood hints of dark chocolate and soya Taste is a nicely balanced mix of liquorice, and vanilla than coffee and dark chocolate with a roasty edge. The dark chocolate part is delicious, soft smooth bitter znd a hint of vanilla Nice coffee-bitter liquorice-bitter vanilla roasted malty aftertaste. Low carbo, soft Mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. This is good stuff!

25 cl bottle @ Pikkulintu.
Rated on 20110729.
Pitch black colour with small head. Aroma of lots and lots of vanilla and chocolate, some whiskey-like alcohol too. Flavour of dark roasted malts, lots of vanilla, peat and some dry mocha-like chocolate. Palate is quite bitter but the after taste softens it down nicely.
