Strong nose of red apple, caramel and dark fruit. Well hidden alcohol.
Well balanced flavor profile, but wish it was slightly richer and more complex. Just doesn’t have the flavor intensity I desire in a strong, sweet beer. Overall though, I still found it to be a solid beer. I enjoyed it.

12/05/2013 250ml bottle (#1696, BB 2020), thanks Jesperhammer! Ambrata intensa, riflessi miele, schiuma virtualmente assente. Naso molto ricco, sentori di liquirizia, caramello, tostato, frutta matura, vaniglia, alcol. In bocca è meno impressionante, ben equilibrata ma un po’ insipida, caramello, zucchero di canna, finale amarognolo, piatta e un po’ corta. Corpo pieno, praticamente piatta. Molto buona, da bere in piccole dosi in compagnia di un bel dolce.

Found this little goodie in the cellar - had forgotten everything about it. Nice discovery. A dark brown pour with No head what so ever. Almost looks like a coke. The aroma is huge and very complex dominated of sweet notes. You sense apples and wooden notes on top of a rush of brown sugar. Some chocolate and a hint of tobacco too. Due to No carbonation you also get a palate that a rather watery with a little picking feeling from the alcohol. The taste is nicely balanced between sweet and bitter notes with the warm alcohol feeling in the end. Chocolate and oranges, the apples from the calvaen barrels comes out. Lovely balanced after taste where the alcohol not gets too dominating, but is gently followed by a malty sweetness and a low key bitterness. Truely a winter warmer

25cl bottle. Courtesy of Papsoe. Strong liquor and wood aromas. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is liquor, some malty, kind of sweet. Nice one.

Bottled. A hazy dark red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, bread, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, bread, caramel, bread, and wood, leading to a dry finish.

It smells like wet wood and that is somehow the best from this beer. It’s almost red and has a minimum of head. The taste is unfortunately dominated by the high alcohol together with an sour flavour.

25 cl. bottle. Pours murky brown, but I have to admit that I didn’t pay attention and got most of the sediment poured into my glass too. :-/
Absolutely no head...and I tried. Aroma of malt, wood, caramel, vanilla and alcohol. Thick thick mouthfeel and a flavour much like the aroma but also of fruits, sugar and calvados from the barrels. Overall very complex. Taste is sweet with a dry aftertaste. Pretty good, I wish I could get some more.

Weicher Beginn, der Alkoholgehalt ist in keinem Teil erschmeckbar. Vanille, Holz, dezent fruchtig. Vollmundig, kurzzeitig brennend. Rund, ausgewogen, etwas oxidiert. Gut! 8/12/12/12/12/12

Bottle @ home....It pours murky brown with no head.......The aroma is alcohol, dark fruits, wood, vanilla and caramel.....The flavor is dark fruits, wood, caramel, vanilla and some alcohol...... nice ....
