English: Flemish Red - maybe it sounds more like a high yielding dairy breed than a beer, but there is no milk to be found in the contents of this bottle.
Flemish Red is a historic Belgian beer, which we here at Amager Brewery are proud to present in our experimental series of beers. With its clear character after seven months maturing in used French Bordeaux barrels and its pronounced acidity, it is a beer for exquisite and discerning palates.
In the glass Dicentra Cucullaria is a beautiful reddish brown with a lively bubbly beige head. The aroma with its refreshing acidity has been clearly influenced by the French red wine barrels. The taste is dominated by dry tart fruit - tart but never sour. In the finish there is a fine blend of acidity combined with the pleasant dryness from the hops.
Brewed using: Amarkansk municipal water, German and Viennese crystal malt, East Kent Goldings hops and English yeast cultures.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, hops and yeast/culture

Bottle. Pours a darker red color with an off white head. Aroma has lots of vinous notes, red grapes, oak, some balsamic vinegar, darker cherry and darker fruits and subtle funk. The flavor is again really vinous with red grapes, oak, wine gum, darker cherry, subtle funk and tartness. The body is medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a pretty good Sour.

(sample from 37,5 cl bottle at tasting with Kasper, Sandra and Mark) Pours a cloudy amber with medium tan head. Aroma is a nice subtly tart, red grape. Slightly watery texture, medium carbonation and a slightly tart and slightly sweet finish. Flavour is less full and savoury than the aroma sadly.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks Tom. Pours headless murky brown. Cherry, jam aroma and a sour, a little lactic but inoffensive taste. No carbonation, medium body, long finish. Nice.

At a tasting, thanks DSG, small bubbley off white head, murky light brown colour, aroma of honey wax, vinegar, bread, some cherries and wood, flavour of wood, vanila and over ripe fruits. Nice but not too exciting.

0.375l corked bottle from Bierkoning. This is a deep dark ruby one packed with tiny floating particles and a small bubbly quickly islandy off-white top. Oh, that’s a whole lot going on with this aroma! Is’s loaded with red berries this! Slightly acidic and ripe with woody and some nice vanilla-ish tones. Sticky red syrup with a clear sweetness blended in between all those sour berries. It has a really soft - almost flat carbonation level and a soft oily mouthfeel. Much more gentle and elegant than the aroma lead to believe. Of course the red berries is dominating, but it’s not as sour or acidic as I would have imagined. Slightly woody with lemon peal, artificial sugar sweetener and something slightly "wild". Ends with cran- and lingonberries. Quite a good one this! Petty I won’t ever taste it again. 29.12.2012

375 ml. bottle, batch 200, BB. Feb. 2015. Poured in to a snifter. The beer suds at the opening. Clear brown colour with with a with a significant red tint. Bubbly off-white head, that fades to a thin ring. Complex and tart aroma with red wine barrels, ripe fruits, berries, lactose, and caramel malts. Taste is lightly sour. Medium body, soft carbonation. Finishes dry with a wooden note. Very nice Flemish Red.

375ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
lovely funky aroma, more than sharply acidic, sweet cherry fruits and stones. Deep red, small beige ring. Nice wood-resins in the retronasals. Great flemish red. No signs of 6%. Mellow and woody. Very respectful version of the style, if I ignore the label, this comes from belgium. Good one.

A clear red/brown colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma has some sour, wood, fruits and some winery. The taste is a little sour, has notes of wood, a little bitter and hints of fruits. The aftertaste is a little sweet, some sour with wood notes.
