COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It has long been a matter of discussion amongst the worlds most prominent beer experts whether one could brew a beer which is both black and pale at the same time. At Amager Bryghus we like to dispense with lengthy theoretical discussions - we are practical men of the people, so we set about proving that it is of course possible to brew a light dark beer.
You now have here in front of you a bottle of Amager Black Double India Pale Ale - a decidedly mixed breed somewhere between a well hopped Double IPA and something which is almost a stout.
The result is a beer which in the glass is a very dark brown with a high and dense beige head. Despite the color the flavour is not tremendously roasty, it is rather the hops that dominate. We pumped it up to 200 bitterness units (IBU), and then just to squeeze the rest of the life out of your tastebuds, we dry hopped it with the three c’s Cascade, Columbus and Centennial.

Pleasant and tasty, well balanced dark IPA with some alcohol to it. Nice malty taste which is balanced nicely with an American hop profile. Pretty clean and welcoming.

07-MAY-2010, @Beerfestival.dk. So here it is. This is fine. Brown (!) and not black, but hey, who cares as long as it tastes goog, and it does. Very very bitter from hops. Some dark notes as well from the malt. All in all well balanced and a very good brew.

Draft. An unclear brown beer with a lazing light tan head. The aroma has notes of hops, grass, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, grass, citrus, and malt, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

Dark brown with a medium beige head. The aroma was packed with hops, grapefruits, pine, roasted malt and caramel notes. Flavour had so many hops, grapefruits, pine, roasted malt and it was bone dry. Finished seriously bitter and not like so many other high abv so called hoppy beers this one was bone dry and hoppy like hell. Masterpiece!
