COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It has long been a matter of discussion amongst the worlds most prominent beer experts whether one could brew a beer which is both black and pale at the same time. At Amager Bryghus we like to dispense with lengthy theoretical discussions - we are practical men of the people, so we set about proving that it is of course possible to brew a light dark beer.
You now have here in front of you a bottle of Amager Black Double India Pale Ale - a decidedly mixed breed somewhere between a well hopped Double IPA and something which is almost a stout.
The result is a beer which in the glass is a very dark brown with a high and dense beige head. Despite the color the flavour is not tremendously roasty, it is rather the hops that dominate. We pumped it up to 200 bitterness units (IBU), and then just to squeeze the rest of the life out of your tastebuds, we dry hopped it with the three c’s Cascade, Columbus and Centennial.

Pleasant and tasty, well balanced dark IPA with some alcohol to it. Nice malty taste which is balanced nicely with an American hop profile. Pretty clean and welcoming.

Mycket beska men faktiskt mindre än väntat, välbalanserad.

50 cl bottle.

Pours dark red, almost black color with light head. Aroma of very strong hops, tangy but still quite pleasant, some liquorice also. Flavor of roasted malts, could have more though, liquorice, pine and some syrup notes. Quite nice brew altogether.

(from notes) Bottle: black beer with red edges and a huge delicious creamy head. Very heavy aromatic roasted notes and loads of hop - grassy, resin, pine. Taste is sweet, roasted, massively hoppy and heavy bitter with some licorice notes, that sort binds it all together. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Extremely long, lingering, dry finish.

Bottle from systembolaget, Sweden. Thick brown lasting head. Fruity hop aroma. Dark red color. Huge bitterness with lots of dark roasted malts that combine in their bitterness to make the taste tart and unplesent except in small sips. The big body don’t balance the beer enough to make it enyoable.

Draught at The Green Lion Inn, Malmö
Cloudy brown color; creamy head. The aroma is unexpectedly very hoppy-fruity; then some timid creamy chocolate and malts appear too; light apples. Strong body, round mouthfeel; powerful caramel and chocolate flavor, sweet; strong bitterness; the fruity side of the hops is very pleasant, with the resins it almost gives a light sour touch. The final has just a tad too much roasted malts. Excellent, one extreme, maybe chaotic example of black DIPA, but mostly appreciated.

Great aroma and flavor of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate with elements of luscious hops. A really tasty and nice beer.

Black with heavy aggressive hop aromas. Roasted notes with a lot of chocolate and licorice. Thick body, almost got the characteristics of an imperial stout if it wasn’t for the big bitterness.
