Danish.

English: Take a good thing and make it even better – that’s the philosophy behind Double Black Mash. This huge Imperial Stout was easily big and potent enough after the first mashing, but we thought what the heck let’s give it another spin. So we mashed it in a second time doubling everything that was already good while aiming for great. All grain, heavy duty, no nonsense. Did we hit what we aimed at? Well, that’s really up to you to decide. If you like it big and black this for is your kinda beer for sure.

Really heavy hitter! Pitch black, thick, almost syrupy with a lot of alcohol, chocolate, roasted malts, some licorice and raisins as well. Sweet and strong with some molasses. Only downside with this one is the finish with a bit too much alcohol, otherwise a next to perfect imperial stout.

Bottle at home, 3rd June 16. Pours deep black and viscous with an attractive tan head on top. Aroma is heady liquorice, roasted malts, chocolate, leather. Taste is rich, liquorice, leather, very complex, sweet and sticky, but good balance of bitterness. Velvet smoothness and full mouthfeel. Excellent

500 ml bottle from Hawthorne Cellars. Pours black with small dark brown head that dissipates quickly. Very mild aroma of toasted malt and chocolate. Palette is smooth and a little syrupy. Flavours are big, with toasted malt, maybe a little charred, and chocolate. Hints of anise, perhaps. Hops are present in the background. Definitely a big imperial stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
