Danish.

English: Take a good thing and make it even better – that’s the philosophy behind Double Black Mash. This huge Imperial Stout was easily big and potent enough after the first mashing, but we thought what the heck let’s give it another spin. So we mashed it in a second time doubling everything that was already good while aiming for great. All grain, heavy duty, no nonsense. Did we hit what we aimed at? Well, that’s really up to you to decide. If you like it big and black this for is your kinda beer for sure.

Ingredienser: Vand, Malte: Pilsner, Pale, Münchener, Roasted Barley, Cara-hell, Melanoidin, Light chocolate, Cara-aroma, Crystal og Black, Humle: Cascade og Chinook, Gær: US Ale

(Batch 601.

Sample from 50 cl. bottle. Batch # 970. My rating # 2100. Pitch black with a thin, tanned head. Roasted aroma with liquorice, dark malts, soy sauce, fruits, chocolate and coffee. Taste is bitter-roasted. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes long lasting, bone-dry bitter and roasted with warmth from alcohol. Excellent Stout.

Inky black with beautiful, lasting creamy red-brown head. Aromas of treacle, chocolate, mocha, vanilla, dates and cream. Lots of treacle sweetness in the taste straight up, dark fruits, milk chocolate, mocha, with just a little dryness and charred meat in the finish. Very little metallic notes or noticeable alcohol that can be common in this type of beer. Very full bodied and creamy. Very rich, indulgent and thoroughly enjoyable.

500 ml bottle poured into a chalice. Pours a thick syrupy black with no head or sign of carbonation. The aroma has ashy notes and coco powder notes as well. The taste is a little peppery and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel and just a bit of carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a huge dark brown foamy head with excellent retention and some good amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some sweet notes and loads of black chocolate notes is very enticing. Taste is also dominated by loads of sweet residual sugar notes with some really nice black chocolate notes and quite a bit of residual sugar notes. Body is extremely full with good creamy texture and with good carbonation and almost no alcohol was apparent. Huge imperial stout with loads of flavours while retaining some good drinkability feature.
