Commercial Description:

English: Dragor Tripel is a top-fermented beer to which we have sought inspiration from the strong, Belgian abbey ales of the ”Tripel” type. In this beer it is the sweetness and the alcohol that are in immediate focus. The beer appears light-amber golden and has a creamy head. The aroma of pure fruits – exotic fruits despite the Belgian muse. Altogether you sense mango, passion fruit, and jack fruit – as well as a discrete hint of strawberries. The full body has a solid element of light malts, where the yeast makes a note of itself – just as it is supposed to do. In contrast to other sweet abbey types of beer, the sweet malts in our Dragor Tripel are effectively challenged by the Halletauer hop, which in particular gives our Tripel its finish.

Bottle. High white and creamy long lasting white head. Hazy orange body. Sweet and fruity aroma with a touch of coriander. Alcohol quite dominant otherwishe the flavor is of peaches. A good deal of carbonation and a long aftertaste. Too bad the alcohol is so dominant.

[Sampled at DØE-festival, Valby, 2007 with svoger.] Yeah, if your favorite style is NOT tripel, then, after thisone, it IS!! Warm bananayeast and alcohol in a complex aroflavor with a lot of fruitesters. Dry in the end, freshy and flavory!

On tap at Københavnske Øldage. Almost clear, golden-orange beer with an off-white head. Sweetness and some spices and wheat in the nice aroma. A bit fruityness as well. Nice, but a bit sweet flavor. Mostly white sugar, lacking a bit on fruityness. Tea-notes. Alcohol and spices in the finish. A little stingy mouthfeel. It is a nice beer, but a bit sweet. The re-rate didn’t change my numbers, it’s still a nice brew. Not the typical tripel, yet quite nice, and definately a potent brew. (070511)

Bottle. (thx Jacob). Pours slight hazy golden with a solid, long lasting beige head. Aroma of yeast, fruit and dirt. Flavour has caramel, fruit, sweetness, spices, alcohol and a dry touch as one would know from Orval or some saisons. Not a typical tripel as I would expect more of a fruity sweetness from it (and the sweetness to be dominating), but kudos for the complexity and the very dry, slight bitter finish, which I love so much when drinking Orval. Nice beer and highly drinkable. My glass is almost empty (50 cl bottle). Btw, MiP - I’ll buy you another one of these when you’re not chewing Hubba Bubba ;-)

Bottle (courtesy Jacob) at Papsoe pre-KO tasting. Hazy straw/gold colour. Quite spicy aroma, with touches of orange zest. More orangey character in the flavour. Also, estery, yeasty, tropical fruit elements. Perhaps strays a little into confectionery/bubblegum territory. A fair amount of residual sweetness laves the mouthfeel a little less crisp than it could be, but there’s a lingering hop presence to keep the sweetness under control. Warming, but not burning, alcohol. Overall, a pretty successful effort.
