COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It is said that behind every great man is an equally great - and above all - wise woman.
Now this can also be said of the beer world. Perhaps our most famous beer, Hr. (Mr.) Frederiksen is a powerful dude, who enjoys nothing more than to stand and admire his own muscles. Fru (Mrs.) Frederiksen however is a wise woman who knows perfectly well that it is possible to achieve almost as much without using anywhere near as much force.
This Lady is just as powerful but is somewhat toned down compared to the Lord. Slightly sweeter and less smokey although with plenty of black malt, chocolate malt and roasted barley she is no complete sissy - the US Centennial hops with its 60+ IBUs reminds you of this fact.
Bid the mistress welcome - she is here to stay.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, wheat malt, oats, hops and yeast

Black with a lasting light brown head. Licorice aroma with some burned wood, and some citrus hops. Rich roasted flavour, sweet but quite hoppy. Smooth and fullbodied.

Bottle. Huge dense work creamy brown head that really lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Pitch black bubbly color. Lovely and strong notes of roasted malt, coffee, liquorish. Also sweet chocolate and a hint of berries. Over the palate came a solid base of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Also some underlying floral – hoppy notes. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation and somewhat dry and at the same time thick texture. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor in balance. Tasty liquorish and roasted malty finish with a touch of sweet chocolate.

[on tap at EBF 2008] Vanilla aroma with some pleasant sweet, roastiness and definite hops (British?). Reddish-opaque black with nice light brown ring and dots. Very good, dry roasty flavour with a nice bitter bite and some hops bitterness. Mostly roast but still a little sweet malt. Perceptible hops flavour. Dry finish, clean, moderate carbonation, does not seem like 7%.

EBF2008. Fru Frederiksen is a pitch black lady with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of coffee, roasted malt and a little chocolate. The flavour has a light, smooth and mellow malty sweetness and a light roasted bitterness and notes of coffee, light caramel, licorice and a little chocolate. The balance is very nice indeed, and it’s a beer you feel at home in, so to speak, and I would love to have boxes and boxes of this in my cellar.

100ml, draught. My last one (of about 70 tasters) at the splendid European Beer Festival in Copenhagen 08. Thanks to David for the last token!
Dark as the devil with a fawn coloured head. The smell consists basically of black coffee with moderate roastiness. Coffee grounds up front leading to a more cappuccino-like flavour, complemented by bitter liquorice. Warming alcohol. A satisfying roundup after three drinking days at the festival (14.09.2008).

(Draught@EBF). Pitch black, small tan head. Aroma of licorice, salted licorice. Lots of roasted malts, color malt, ash and tobacco. Toasted aftertaste. It’s more simple than Mister Frederiksen and has a bit too much tobacco in it for being as good as Hr..

Draught at EBF08. Roasted and creamy aroma. Black colour, seems hazy. Good roasted flavour, some cream, hint of cardboard and yeast. Sweet, but well-balanced.

Medium dark brown head. Opaque black body. Sooty burnt coffee aroma, harmonic and balanced, with bready pumpernickel notes. Sweetish burnt mealy coffee taste with grainy rye notes. Rounded and mild. Dry burnt grain aftertaste. Some alcohol heat. Very, very nice. (0.1l taster draft at EBF ’08.)
