COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s Note: This version was brewed at Amager Bryghus and had its first appearance at Mikkeller’s Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014.
NOT to be confused with the earlier version brewed at Hill Farmstead under the Grassroots label.

Da vi i juni 2013 besøgte New England var det derfor kun naturligt, at vi slog forbi Shauns gårdbryggeri Hill Farmstead – absolut in the middle of nowhere.

500 ml bottle at home. Light hazy golden orange color with very nice white head. the aroma in the beginning is full of orange and mandarin. Later there are other sweet hoppy fruity notes too like peach, it becomes also malty with buttery caramel notes. Taste is sweet and bitter, like the aroma juicy hoppy fruity and caramel malty. Medium body, oily, soft to average carbonation, bitter fruity finish.

Dense, medium head with a clear, glowing orange color. Aromas show a broad range of hop varieties, fresh cut grass, pine, lemon peel, papaya, kiwi and a golden hint of honey. Buttery toffee and white-bread malts lay the groundwork to withstand the massive hoppiness of this brew. Unripe citrus becomes visible after some swiveling, adding the last piece to a very impressive nose. Begins very mellow and soft, only revealing malts up front, which a gentle infusion of caramel and rich toffee. Grassy citrus notes rush in, adding a crisp hop bitterness, accompanied by ripe, sunny orange and a touch of mango for the sweetness. Pine and herbal hints add a gentle complexity to this smooth double IPA, which is almost full-bodied. Remains on the sweeter side, altough it reveals a very appealing hop intricacy. Lingering, bittersweet, creamy and fruity finish.

Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub. Lightly hazy golden color, medium sized white head. Aroma is malts, hops, resin and pine. Taste malts, hops, again resinous and piney. Sticky sweet texture, medium body, medium carbonation. As a double IPA should be, though not one of the best.
