COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Medium, dense, foxy tan-to-brown head over black, viscous beer. Rich black chocolate & mocha nose. Cigarette smoke, smoked mackerel. Sweet, toffeeish main flavour going over in a more bitter-dry ashy finish. Chocolate very much in view again. Quite viscous and well-bodied, if not really chewy as some. Bit oily, but dry. All in all, not really that impressive. Bit... bland? For a Danish-USA collaboration, talk about surprising.

Flaska från SB. Smutsgrått skum. Oljig svart färg. Torr besk smak av kaffe, anis och mörk choklad. Övervägande besk kaffe.

Flaska systembolaget. Mörkt mörkt brun med ljusbrunt skum. Doften drar mörk choklad och kaffe. Smaken är bitter med kaffe och laktos.

500 ml bottle purchased at...?? Well, I don’t remember were the hell I bought this. The stout looks like the ink expelled from an octopus. Aroma is light anise, mild coffee and a good amount of roasted malts. Nice.

Flavor is pretty good, deeper roasted malts, burnt grain, and spent coffee beans. The body is on the fuller/ chewy type feel. Mildly creamy. The only thing I’m not real keen on is the licorice because I am not a huge fan of that flavor. Other wise I was happy to have picked this up some place in my travels.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Looks the goods. Nose all about cloves, bananas and chocolate. Dry cocoa powder in the taste with more cloves, wheat and banana. Really approachable stuff ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Looks great. The nose shows mild wheat but it’s all about the spice and chocolate banana here. The taste is roasty business with mild spice and clove in front of dark peppery chocolate. Nothing mental but real solid tasty stuff

Looks sensational. Inky black and almost completely opaque with a nice frothy 1.5 finger mocha head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, slight vanilla, charred meat and some grass. The taste has treacle, coffee, dark chocolate, charred meat and some interesting resinous hops. Full bodied and creamy smooth. This is really, really good and enhanced by the hops.

Bottle at home from Hoppin Frog. Pours a deep brown, nearly black with a mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, graham cracker, some muddled pine from the hops, caramel, and coffee. The taste is dark chocolate and coffee and then dark fruits and some pine hoppiness. Not sweet and the hops make it kind of dry and interesting. Medium to full body, slick, then dry finish.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 Bottle. Pours black, with a small brown head. Nice aroma of roasted malt and licorice. Long and rich taste of burned malt, coffee and licorice, quite a bitter and dry finish. The softness of the wheat is nice. Oily mouthfeel. Bit too much licorice for my taste though.
