4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. This is a pretty damn black one with a quickly fading off white head. It completely vanishes actually. Lots and lots of vanilla on the aroma! Heavy woody also, with coffee and sweet chocolate blended with smoky whisky. Really nice! It’s average carbonated and has a thick oily texture. Heavy vanilla flavors! Lots of chocolate, some dark black espresso and it’s light stingy as well. Really heavy on the vanilla! Just gotta love it! 12.05.2012

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at CBC, May 2012. It pours very dark brown, with a thin, light tan head. The nose is toffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, coffee, bourbon and amaretto. The taste is vanilla, toffee, charcoal, whiskey, meat, coffee, alcohol warmth, hay, floral, amaretto, almond, touch of spice and toasted coconut. Full body and fine carbonation. Good balance and surprisingly smooth.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap @ CBC. Deep black color with a creamy tan head. Attractive. The nose is STRONG whiskey and vanilla. The aroma is nose-stinging in heat, quite sugary. Light chocolate, roasted malt. The taste is deep hot chocolate, spicy wood. Loads off vanilla. Muddled roasted malts and chocolate-dipped fruits. Full-bodied, slick and heavy. Overall, it’s good, but I find this a heavy touch of a stout. The more nuanced flavors of this beer have no chance to show themselves alongside the dominating boozy vanilla.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12th May 2012
On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration.
Opaque black beer, good tan head. Nose of vanilla. Palate is quite light with restrained crispness. Woody dryness. Semi sweet vanilla. The whisky is well integrated, Quite a warming dry finish. Tasty but this one doesn’t really hang together for me. I like vanilla in beers but it is disjointed here.
