COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Light dry palate. Mild dark malts. Bretty paint from the barrel. A little unsweet dark chocolate. Dark malt. Nice red wine before the dry finish but there is a little too much barrel weirdness here for this to be great.

375 ml corked bottle. Black, near opaque with a creamy thick espresso head. Fair lacing and some ABV streams. Nose is rich on red wine, licorice, coffee, soy, roasted malt, oak, dark fruit and a little smoke. Medium bodied, hardly any carbonation, finishes sharp, dry and bitter with a warming ABV sensation. Flavor is fruity vinous, tar, soy, licorice, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malt, wood, raisins, plums. Almost too complex as all the nuances hits you up front and are hard to distinguish - then fades out. Although an explosion of flavors dominated by the red wine barrel it is well rounded, soft and appealing. Very nice.

Bottled. Pours opague, black and with a creamy, light brown, medium sized tan head leaving some fair lacings. Nose of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla and notes from redwine.Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with a little malt bitterness. Full bodied, oily texture and soft CO2. Malt bitterness and alcohol in the finish. An excellent brew. ★★★★

Pours black with pale brown dissipating head. The aroma is full of port wine, plum, grape, brandy and faint chocolate notes. Flavour is also thick with port wine, but then the stout comes through with a robust warm palate. Quite sweet and sour.

375 ML bottle Brownish black pour and settled black with hints of ruby at the head. Thin layer of dark mocha colored head. Wants to be a thick collar really. Some streaky and spotty lacing and a bit of ABV legs showing. One messed up nose. Really medicinal. Old band aids, oak, smoke, sweet and charred red wine, stewed licoroce, cough syrup, and maybe some poor, hapless oatmeal and roast malt. Taste is as odd as the nose. Soured red wine, medicinal and herbal taste. Cheap tasting barrel and wine. Some char and ash coated in grapa? Smooths out some in the feel but still a lot of cheap red wine. Nice dry wine finish though. Is there any body to this or is it just bad red wine. Odd BA beer that I will not revisit. Just way overbearing

(Bottle) Pours black with a creamy, brown head. The aroma holds white house paint, penicillin, sweet grapes, fish, mint, hard roast, dark bread, some dark fruits, liquorices, earth, tobacco and light resinous woodsy hops. Hints of over ripe yellow fruits and blueberries. The flavour is medium sweet, medium bitter and light acidic with notes of strange/light sourish barrel aging, fairly balanced roast, liquorice and dark fruits alongside a yummy hop profile. The mouthfeel is round, light sticky and light tiny tart with a light carbonation. Sourish wine, dark bread and sweet liquorice on the finish. Medium bodied.
