Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter wonderfull flavor. barrel nuicely present. Long heavy bitter finish. original is even better though. Creamy palate.

Effectively a 2012 vintage. Very IS in appearance with a dark brown hue and orange thin head. Chocolate and oatmeal on the nose; good complexity. Palate is thick and yes wine-like with a port thickness that is exaggerated but very low fizz levels. Dark fruits early but this lightens somewhat to finish with a much lighter tangy note. Note for the faint hearted and I’m sure could be cellared for at least a couple of years.

Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Light dry palate. Mild dark malts. Bretty paint from the barrel. A little unsweet dark chocolate. Dark malt. Nice red wine before the dry finish but there is a little too much barrel weirdness here for this to be great.

375 ml corked bottle.
Black, near opaque with a creamy thick espresso head. Fair lacing and some ABV streams.
Nose is rich on red wine, licorice, coffee, soy, roasted malt, oak, dark fruit and a little smoke.
Medium bodied, hardly any carbonation, finishes sharp, dry and bitter with a warming ABV sensation.
Flavor is fruity vinous, tar, soy, licorice, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malt, wood, raisins, plums. Almost too complex as all the nuances hits you up front and are hard to distinguish - then fades out.
Although an explosion of flavors dominated by the red wine barrel it is well rounded, soft and appealing. Very nice.

Bottled. Pours opague, black and with a creamy, light brown, medium sized tan head leaving some fair lacings. Nose of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla and notes from redwine.Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with a little malt bitterness. Full bodied, oily texture and soft CO2. Malt bitterness and alcohol in the finish. An excellent brew. ★★★★

Flavor of malts, coffee, chocolate, oak, redwine, lightly sour and a little acetone. Full body, flat carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish. 170113
