3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black/heavy dark-brown, nice tan thick head. Big coffee notes in the aroma, along with dark chocolate, some dark fruit, roasted malt. Thick mouthfeel, mild carbonation. Tastes a bit like wort, pretty sweet. Not a lot of coffee in the taste, more chocolate and roasted malt. Some mild vanilla/bourbonish notes towards the end, rounds it off well. The alcohol is there, not disturbing. Good beer

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a thick, motor oil-like black with a lighter khaki colored head of foam. Pretty good retention and sheets of lacing. The aroma has some char, roast, bread, licorice. The taste has more of that charred wood and roast with a bit of dry bitterness coming through over a bit of bread. There’s some warming alcohol coming through in the finish. Light to medium carbonation with a thick mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a five finger brown head that fades slowly but leaves no lace. Black color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Sweet coffee nose and flavor is sweet coffee with slight bitter coffee finish. Higher ABV is hidden. $9.99 for a 500ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Marlboro, MA.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Splendide !

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500ML bottle, pours jet black with a light tan head. Aroma s initially chocolate, coffee and bitter hop. Very smooth in the mouth with luscious chocolate and rich coffee, vanilla and fruit coming through but this all about a great malt proflie. Rich and smooth, with a nice balance and fruit aroma from the hop. Carbonation is low. Alcohol is barely detectable. Fantastic Imeprial Stout

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Alko Arkadia. Pours black with a thick brown head. Aroma is solid and varied, it is impressively malty with lots of chocolate and coffee and perhaps slightly smokiness. Taste is both rich and long, every sip is a new experience. It starts with chocolaty, very light sweet maltiness, then turns into a dryish coffee-flavoured roastiness and finishes with a very dry and bitter hop explosion. In my book, hoppiness separates good Imperial Stouts from great Imperial Stouts and this is certainly latter. Full bodied, low carbonated palate with a bit sharp, sticky mouthfeel. What a great beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rated on 7-09-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a large tan head that mostly diminished, opaque black body and a fair amount of lacing. The Aroma is dark malt, chocolate malt and roasty. There is also some clove, grassy and pine hops. The Taste is bitter, chocolate, roasted malt, boozy, and hops. This beer has a dry finish of average duration. The Palate is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, the ABV comes through as the beer warms. This beer is worth trying and a beer I would drink again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 50 CL. Pours black with frothy brown lacing head. Notes of espresso, coffee, nuts, roasted, salmiakki, alcohol, some chocolate. Alcohol taste slightly too strong and harsh on this. Not that complex. But still decent imperial stout.
