COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: ”I rate – therefore I am”. These very few words were for many years the simple governing rule for Hr. Papsø to live by. For years he would seek out exotic and faraway places like Onetaka, Windischeschenbach, San Diego – yes even Køge – in his constant quest for the holy grail: that perfect beer. What started as a way of spending time while being romatically involved with a certain girl at a youth hostel in Newcastle, NSW turned into a 25 year long passion of rating every beer he encountered. With his faithful companinon – Mr. Pink – and his set of gold coated tasting thimbles always ready for action Hr. Papsø has now reached 25.000 ratings on the world’s most renowned beer rating portal www.ratebeer.com. And that for sure calls for a beer to celebrate. “Hr. Papsø In Black” is such a beer combining three of the things Hr. Papsø really loves in a beer: that cool darkness, a fresh and crisp dryhopping and high drinkability. Be calm – be cool. Enjoy.

11/12/12/11/10/11

Bottle @ home. Pours dark brown to black. Lots of hops in the aroma. Pine, some grapefruit, licorice, roasty and some coffee. Taste is on the bitter side. Still very drinkable. Nice one.

Bottle at home, from De Molen Beershop, 02/10/13. Pours a mid black with a big frothy light tan head. Nose is earthy hops, pine, cocoa, tropical notes but is let down by a plastic waft. Taste is blackcurrant jam, pine, cocoa powder, light grapefruit tang, hop notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, juicy berry fruits and hop bitterness in the finish. Decent CDA, very drinkable, would have been a 3.8 but for the aroma.

Bottle. Pours black with a big steady beige head. The aroma is fruity hops, licorice, grass and citrus. The flavor is spicy and fruity hoppy with notes of licorice and light toasted malt. The roast is most profound in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle @ Cardinal. Very dark, almost black body with a big, creamy tan head. Lovely aroma of sweetish, dark malt, citric fruit and pine. Flavor is sweet, slightly roasted dark malt, citric fruit, pine and quite bitter with some notes of chocolate. Medium body and decent aftertaste. Very nice, but the hop flavor here seems to be a bit out of balance with the dark malt. The biterness is a bit sharp edged. Still an enjoyable beer well worth a celebration.

Bottle from De Molen web shop. Batch 606. Almost black colored beer with huge beige head towering over my glass. Roasted malt, citrus hops, tropical fruits, herbal notes. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, tropical fruits, citrus hops. Long hoppy finish. Tasty.
