Bottled at Københavnske Øldage 2011. Murky brown, no head. Lemony butter aroma. Sweet malt form a huge well rounded body. Lots of butter, offset by funky tartness and mild raisins. Warming and intense. An odd but interesting and likable fellow, this Papsø.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from ølbutikken, clear amber, bubbly fizzy yellow head. Aroma is boozy, sweet caramelly, bitter malty, woody notes. port wine, sweet dried fruits. many layers to the aroma that initially starts out rather simple with woody port dominating. Flavor is sweet, sweet dried fruits, honey, wood, port wine. This is quite intense, could just as well be some kind of expensive booze as it could be beer. also got some raisins, the end is about the same as the initial flavor, and the aftertaste lingers for a long time. alc. is a little bit too much in the way of the rest of the flavors. Perhaps aging will help out?

375ml corked and caged bottle, courtesy of Papsø. Thanks Henrik! Poured into a New Belgium globe with a caramel brown color and a fluffy tan head. Aromas of port wine, wood and burnt sugar fill the glass. Taste is lively, somewhat tart, with raisins and dark fruit flavors and a good amount of alcoholic bite. Spices and vanilla notes warm the palate.Finishes with a rummy sweetness. Nice stuff.
